Despite being well on in years, I have never, ever bought a new dinner service. We had lots of second hand plates given to us when we married and later had a new service bought for us that I didn't like.
So, the time has come when I feel ready to ditch my cracked, chipped and unmatching plates, to buy a new set that I actually like.
The problem is that all modern plates seem to be giant. My current plates are 25cm wide and only just fit in my washing up bowl. The bowl is as large as could buy to fit in my new shiny sink, and we're committed to not having a dishwasher. I'm also getting larger as I get older, so bigger plates won't help this!
So, am I the only person that has come across this problem? Has anyone else managed to find ordinary sized plates? Anything that is 25cm or less would be great. Please help me!
