Just ordered new kitchen - are you supposed to tile the floor before or after new kitchen is fitted?

I'm assuming you take up the old floor before the fitters start.

And tiles on the wall - before or after?

take up old floor first .. but tile after then you don't waste money tiling under fitted units

tiles on walls definitely after

Thats what dp said, but I wasn't sure about getting the floor tiles to line up exactly with the units, I thought we should tile up to where we thought the units would end and a bit extra so the units sit on top of the tile to get a better finish iyswim?

Agree with the wall tiles.

no the board at the bottom of a fitted kitchen is put in once the units are in .. and you can take it off again ..

each unit will have adjustable legs .. and the board will go on with clips .. all that happens is the floor tilers take the boards off .. tile underneath to the adjustable legs and then trim boards and pop them back on

you need to consider underfloor heating and how easily a broken plate will break if putting kitchen floor tiles in btw .. B&Q have a great range of laminate boards that look like tiles .. we used it and people are always shocked when we point out they're actually fake .. benefits were they're always warm, stuff doesn't break as easily and they're cheaper

tileloc stuff worth looking at anyway .. friends have the slate effect and also looks great in

PanicPants · 20/01/2007 19:45

We were thinking about the laminate 'tiles' as we have the B&Q blacky/grey laminate in the bathroom and it really does look like tiles doesn't it!

OUr floor atm is tiles, and has so many cracks and holes due to ds dropping things on it that the laminate looks a more favourable by the minute!
