Can you put sodium bicarb in a steam cleaner?

I want to steam the carpets but thought a few scoops of sodium bicarb in the water might help clean them and remove smells. What do you think? Do you think it could damage the machine?

I wouldn't - the bicarb won't be in the steam it'll get left where the water's heated.

Soupie is right, only the water evaporates. You'll just be left with sludge in the tank.

Of course! Doh! Thank you
