I have a Henry atm which is no good at all for animal hair. I have 2 cats and a dog (collie).
I have some carpets, some wood floors and some lino type stuff.

So what would your recommendations be please? I have had Dysons in past and got on ok but don't want anything too heavy.
TIA

Its supposed to be the Miele Cat and Dog. Its quite expensive, but not as noisy as a Dyson (and works).

Harry.

catkin14, instead of shelling out for a new vacuum, you can buy the pet hair turbo brush for carpets to fit Henry. It's on sale on Amazon. Cheaper than buying a whole new vacuum.

We've got a Henry Xtra that came with one of these and it makes the world of difference.

If you really want a new vacuum, I'd recommend Sebo uprights. They're on the expensive side but worth every penny. The Sebo Felix is their lighter weight model.

We've also a got 20 year old hand-me-down Sebo X1 and nothing comes close to its pick up on carpets.

I can recommend the Miele cat and dog. My vacuum is quite small and it was about £180. It really does take up the hair on carpets and furniture left by my 2 cats better than any other vacuum I've owned.

I have a Sebo upright which is around 20 plus years old. It is a fantastic machine and when it breaks down it will be replaced with another Sebo. It removes Sheltie hair quickly and believe me Shelties have a lot of hair!

I just had a look on John Lewis at the cost to replace my X1 and it is £240 including a 5 Year Guarantee. That sounds like a bargain to me.

rabbit123 · 26/05/2016 08:07

You can get them cheaper than that. The bog standard X1.1 is £199 on Amazon and the X4 Extra with all the additional tools is £229

Thanks all, help appreciated. I will be off to John Lewis on monday to have a look!

Meile

mummytime · 26/05/2016 21:12

I have a pet hair turbo brush and it does very well with: white cat hair from two very thick haired cats, and long hair from 4 family members. It is amazing how much more is picked up the first time you use the brush attachment. It does make Henry noisier (but not as noisy as a Dyson), and makes a horrid noise when it picks up and breaks lumps of plastic, but there aren't many moving parts to go wrong, and we've found it simple to fix.

PoohBearsHole · 26/05/2016 21:22

The meile works well here with two cats and a dog :) had a duson prior which was rubbish at the time :) got a handheld duson too me and its fab as well but the meile wins.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/05/2016 21:53

I have a meile cylinder -2 actually for upstairs and downstairs- I thought the stairs were clean...!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/05/2016 23:52

I missed a bit off my post,i just realised Blush I thought the stairs were clean until I used my new Dyson handheld animal - urghhhhh the rubbish that came up was shocking!

DramaAlpaca · 26/05/2016 23:54

Another vote for Miele C3 Cat & Dog.

Iknownuffink · 27/05/2016 00:02

I have a cordless Dyson animal. Fully carpeted through out and it cope with my Long haired cat and my hair loss.
