Tell me about your cleaner?

I think it's time to admit defeat, I can't keep ontop of the house and I'm starting to resent the people in it
I'm thinking of hiring a cleaner

So if you have one, how offen do they come? How much do they charge? And what kind of things can I ask them to do; will they do things like strip beds/clean the oven l? And can I change what I ask them to do each week, or will their actual jobs have to be agreed before they start?

Or are all my questions pointless and it totally varies cleaner to cleaner? most likely

Mine comes once a week for 3 hours (5 bed house). She works for herself, and is very flexible - she'll strip and make beds, would stick a load of bed sheets on etc. I could ask her to do different things each week.

An agency cleaner otoh might only do the pre agreed items, and not do beds

Once a week an agency sends the same two lovely people for 2 hours. All surfaces cleaned/washed/hoovered. Beds made. No oven cleaning!!!

4 bed house, cleaner comes once a week for two hours
Delighted with this
Oven/fridge cleaned on every other week
Hoovering, moping, dusting and cleaning of two bathrooms also cleans kitchen work surfaces etc
I have never asked her to change my bedding but I'm sure she would do this if I asked
She also cleans inside of my windows every month or so
£10 per hour in Scotland and I supply cleaning products

5 bed house, and cleaner comes 3 times a week for 5-6 hours each time.

She tidies, dusts, hoovers, changes sheets, irons and puts away, takes out rubbish, sweeps the outside areas, cleans floors, cleans kitchen thoroughly (including inside fridge, inside cabinets/drawers), and windows as needed.

I pay her £10/hr.

Mine comes once a week for 3 hours - on a Friday which I love her even more for as the place is clean all weekend. Three bed flat. I pay her £10 per hour and also pay her for the weeks I cancel her if we're away but not if she says she wants time off. Whilst she's here she:
Dusts all surfaces
Hoovers and mops the floors
Scrubs 2 bathrooms
Properly cleans the kitchen
Cleans inside windows
Empties bins
Changes the sheets, washes them and hangs them up to dry
Over a four week period all furniture is pulled out and cleaned behind

She doesn't clean the oven, but I've just got a fancy pyrolytic one that allegedly cleans itself. Anything else I ask of her she does though. She's my angel.

My one is startig next week. In the home counties, £12.50 she brings her own stuff. Cleaning, polishing, dusting, mopping, hoovering.

Mine is £10 per hour, we provide the cleaning materials. She'll do anything we ask , whatever we want from week to week and she takes my ironing away and returns a couple of days later

I did a bit of cleaning when my son was small. Generally speaking I would say that you agree with a cleaner what they should do every week. Clean the kitchen and bathroom, bedrooms, dust, hoover, wipe down paint work etc. These are jobs that will need doing regularly. Once a fortnight you could ask your cleaner to miss out some of the less urgent jobs (you decide which)and clean the oven ( or fridge for that matter) most cleaners would change the sheets weekly but bare in mind that can be time consuming. Another thing to remember is that a tidy house can be cleaned quicker and therefore more jobs can be covered by your cleaner. Wage is dependant on the area but ten pound an hour would be a minimum outside London. And expect your cleaner to work for at least two to three hours. Ask them what cleaning materials they like to use and make sure you have a decent vacuum cleaner🙂🙂🙂

Ask around to see if anyone has one that would recommend. If not adverts in shop windows or local paper perhaps? X
