Try Napisan either pre soaking or adding to wash.

Yes, I fill up the fabric softener section in the draw with it. Your washing doesn't smell of vinegar afterwards!

sweetheart · 09/01/2007 14:58

mix bicarb of soda with white vinegar and apply directly to affected area before washing. They fizz together which helps somehow!?!

princessmel · 09/01/2007 14:58

Is white vinegar just for sweat smells or for any thing extra yukky??

ProfYaffle · 09/01/2007 16:12

White vinegar is a wonderous thing, it's a natural antiseptic and deoderant. I use it for wiping down kitchen surfaces in preference to a nasty chemical spray, also use it with hot water and tea tree oil for cleaning up wee accidents and in the wash it's good for killing bacteria on sweaty stuff, towels etc, good softener as well and de-scales kettles, showerheads etc etc

The fizzy thing with bicard is fab for breaking up stains on numerous things. I could go on and on ....

Thanks ProfYaffle ~ off to get some first thing tomorrow!

ProfYaffle.... do go on .... please! am a great fan of white vinegar too. only wish i would know where to buy it in great quantity as can only buy it in 1ltr bottle. any advice?

ipanemagirl · 10/01/2007 11:55

Yes, I'd like to know where to get a bigger bottle of vinegar

ProfYaffle · 10/01/2007 15:23

I'd love to be able to get bigger bottles as well, I can only get 500ml bottles from Morrisons. I did have quick look on the net but the postage costs were eye watering.

so what do you want to know about vinegar then? I've just got dd1's steriliser down from the attic in preparation for dd2's arrival, I ran it with half white vinegar and half water (it's a microwave one) and all the limescale just melted away. Boil half vinegar half water in the kettle, leave overnight, limescale disappears. I've got a book about it you know!

ipanemagirl · 10/01/2007 17:23

is it that 1001 things to do with vinegar book?

Cloudhopper · 10/01/2007 17:28

I have two 1tr bottles of white vinegar which I bought after watching 'How Clean is Your House?' one day.

So I am now rolling up my sleeves in preparation for an onslaught on dirt, grime and smells. Bring the tips on!

JackieNo · 10/01/2007 17:29

Was it here ProfYaffle? YOu can get 5 litres of white vinegar for £3.70, but then you have to pay £6.99 for postage. Although you can add other stuff to the order up to the weight of 25 kilos, but how much does 5 litres of something weigh? Must be loads.

ProfYaffle · 10/01/2007 17:37

I saw a different site but similar costs. The book I've got is 'Vinegar, Nature's secret weapon' I guess they're of a muchness though.
