Can I share my new favourite cleaning product?

I bought this a while ago for the hob. It work ok on there but no better than a squirt of fairy IMO.
However, I started cleaning my frankly filthy upvc door yesterday and needed something abrasive. It worked amazingly!
Then I moved on to grimy light switches and it worked a treat.
I thought I needed to repaint after 5 years of mucky handprints and furniture scrapes on walls. Oh no. Not with this stuff. And it's about a quid in Home Bargains etc.
Like the sad good MN'er I am, I have pics...

The carpet cleaner/shampoo is fabulous too.

magratvonlipwig · 01/05/2016 12:05

Wow. Just wow

JPinkertonSnoopington · 25/05/2016 04:36

MaGrat, was your post meant to be snarky? I can understand it if so, but in my case I have changegd my mind about housework and I am pleased to have an orderly flat. I have bipolar disorder and had been ill with depression for two years. Then I broke my arm and complications set in, and six months down the line I am still in a lot of pain and have to wear a bandage and splints on it all the time. Three months ago I paid a cleaning company to do a deep clean and they also decluttered it so now I find I can look after my flat very easily. After having lived in a pigsty for so long, I am taking such pleasure in finding cleaning products that help me keep it spick-and-span. I do have other interests, such as singing in my band, improving my German and learning digital photography, so am not very Stepford!

Please don't begrudge me my small pleasure in my much improved home environment. I have found over the years that small pleasures ( that mount up) can be the cause of real solid happiness in the long run.

And don't stop posting pinkerton as I have loved this thread!

(Totally agree. Stressful lives need little wins)

Lulooo · 25/05/2016 05:10

I'd bought some of this stuff just 2 days ago to try, coincidently. Now you're all raving about it I shall look forward to a little cleaning up. Halo
Will try out windowless too.

Boozena · 25/05/2016 05:46

Ha I had forgotten I'd started this thread- it came up in active and I thought 'Ooh what new cleaning product?!'
I have a manky shower door that needs some attention- that's my next plan of attack with it, thanks!
Not sure if it's 'as good' as oven pride but you don't have to leave it, it doesn't stink the whole kitchen out and doesn't matter if it gets on your skin! That's a winner in my book- though might be a trade off for some elbow grease.
I've been after a good window cleaner so il try it- the one I have now smells awful and you have to buff it for aaages

Can I add their washing up liquid, laundry detergent and bathroom cleaner.

All work v well and are cheap! I get mine from ocado

JPinkertonSnoopington · 25/05/2016 08:47

Can I add my Hoky carpet sweeper? I was recommended it by a friend and I've found that it picks up all the dust and the crumbs as well as my Henry hoover. It is so light I can push it round with one hand, and it's a big part of why I have been able to keep my flat so clean. Amazon do Hokys is in a variety of sizes, so you might like to consider buying one to use every day, rather than getting a big hoover out.

Boozena · 26/05/2016 16:29

Need a cleaning product shopping spree!
I fancied a carpet hoover for upstairs as my old vax was so heavy. Then got a bloody black cat so can't be without a proper vac - DH thankfully bought me a lightweight Dyson.

Do the sweepers work on wood floor?

I am a recent Astonish convert too. Bought it thinking it would do my oven door (it didn't) but my shower is sparkling after it! Will now try Flash with Bleach.

JPinkertonSnoopington · 28/05/2016 18:35

Boozena - I haven't got any wooden floors, but it does work on lino and vinyl. So its likely that it would work on wooden floors.

Playduh · 28/05/2016 18:52

Ooh, just bought some on Amazon for my disgusting scaly shower door. May report back.

And yes, small pleasures mount up :)

Tonis2297 · 28/05/2016 19:24

I've got this in the cupboard and don't quite know how to use it Blush how do you put it on walls ? It seems quite like clay as if it would stick and end up Minging ifyswim ?

Boozena · 31/05/2016 20:58

Sorry Blush I keep forgetting to check I'm on!
You use a damp cloth and it should be firm but moist (mine dried up so I poured some hot water in and squished it around to make a clay).
Then rub the damp cloth in it/scoop a bit out depending on what you're cleaning.
When I did the walls I did smallish areas at a time, rinsing the cloth, wiping clean then back to the pot - leaves a chalky residue otherwise.
Can't wait to try this on the shower screen where I work sad

And my favourite new cleaning product is white vinegar! Big thanks to an old thread on MN I got the top tip of pouring white vinegar into the well at the bottom of the dishwasher during the 'filling up with water' cycle. I did two cycles and the limescale has gone. Totally chuffed as limescale had seemed to literally explode over all the plates, glasses etc that were in there and they looked beyond therapy. All sorted and back to good working order! Thank you Smile

unlucky83 · 02/06/2016 20:37

I got some for cleaning the oven and I love it...I found out about it watching an advert for an oven cleaning company...they used it for the door and I thought if it is good enough for a professional company ...
The other tip I got from them is they used a window/glass scraper (a thing with a razor blade to get paint splashes off glass) for the really filthy glass door....I have used a blunt one (carefully) to get scrape off badly burnt on spills from the bottom of my oven and it worked a treat (but I guess it depends if your oven has fancy coatings etc whether you should use it on the inside)...

Minisoksmakehardwork · 04/06/2016 07:17

I've used this since seeing it's exactly what the oven cleaning company used. And since I can get it in poundland, I'm saving a bloody fortune for the sake of a little elbow grease.
