small utility room ideas

So we have a very very small utility. It's more of a corridor off the kitchen to the back door. It has sink, microwave on the only bit of worktop, washing machine, under sink cupboard and condenser.

I want to try to get more out of it, Pinterest ideas all look expensive and custom designed. I don't have a lot if budget.

What works for you? A large shelf with baskets looks nice but not sure if it's practical.

I'd like to store dirty and clean washing in there for sorting. I'd also like to squeeze in some drying space but I can't have a pulley as there isn't enough clearance.

Am I right in thinking the washer and dryer are both under the counter? Is there much wall space? It's often worth stacking the washer and dryer to gain cupboard space, if you can.

I was going to ask if you can stack the washer and drier too.

What about one of these to pop your dirty laundry in if there's a spare corner?

We got some cheapo wall shelves from ikea and have 2 rows going the whole wall. We made them the right height apart to take certain things. On the bottom is the peg bag, iron, cleaning sprays etc and on the top is big boxes of washing powder, fabric softener, a tub of vanish and other bits and bobs. Putting all that stuff on the shelves within easy reach of the washer and dryer has meant that we can use the cubpoard under the sink as kitchen overspill for tins and dry goods like pasta & rice

If it will help, fit wall brackets for the microwave to free up worktop space.

Can you relocate the microwave into teh kitchen? Lose the picture and replace with shelves. And put a row of coat hooks on the other wall.

I would definitely put wall shelves above the splash back, it'll free to the worktop and cupboard for other things

No room in the kitchen for the microwave, will try shelves and a coat rack.

Was hoping to sort laundry in there hopefully shelves and baskets might do it

God I'm obsessed with utility room ideas. Mine is similar op. A door in and a door down to the cellar so leaves little space as you need to be able to go through it if that makes sense. I have a utility room Pinterest board too and dream of a big lovely one with baskets and ironing boards left up I possibly need to get out more so following this with way too much interest ...

Forget shelves, you want a hanging rail above the worktop, you will use it all the time I promise.

If you could afford it do 1/3 shelves and 2/3rd hanging rail

Could I diy it from B&Q?

Yes, we bought a hanging rail and brackets from eBay, I'm sure b&Q would sell them as well. Just position a shelf above.

I have kitchen wall units in mine. It enables me to hide a whole multitude of crap!

Ours is the same as yours, we bought some really cheap kitchen wall cabinets and mounted them on the wall for extra storage. I have put baskets inside to try and keep things organised.
