Mouse/Mice

We've seen some mice droppings in our house and heard something within the walls of our stone cottage. However, we havent heard anything for a couple of weeks. I'm hoping they/it has gone, but wondered if anyone knows the general behavior of mice what if they are just nesting and things are set to get a whole lot worse? Anyone with any experience?

If you get repeated sightings, or droppings, then yes you need to take steps.

But a one-off you can cross your fingers and hope they're just wandering through.

If they're not the basic options are:

a) invite a killer to live with you (ie get a hunter cat) which is possibly the only answer if you are rural and they wander in from outside
b) snap traps
c) poison (get a desiccating one, unless you like the smell of decaying corpse)

Thanks MoggyP. We'll keep a closer eye.
