what do you use your spare bedroom for?

If you have a spare room do you use it regularly. We have friends/family come and stay one every month or so, but apart from the odd weekend its just empty and unused. Id love it to be something more than a guest room, as it just feels a bit wasted day to day.what could we do with it to make it feel like a truly useful part of the house?

Meditation/reading/chill out room

Our spare bedroom is in continual use as snoring room/coolest room in summer.

One is a guest room and one is a study/snug/office/ironing room as DS 'needed' a room for his drum kit! Hmm

Ours is mainly a 'man cave' for DP.

He retreats to said cave when I have girl's nights in so we can gossip and also on occasion if I want to do some sewing downstairs which is noisy he'll go up to the man cave.

We also have the laundry airer in there and a large triple/quadruple wardrobe so that we don't have to have a wardrobe in our bedroom which makes it feel lovely and spacious and airy IYSWIM.

It's our only spare room so at some point will be turned into the nursery.

Ours is a spare room with double bed. My inlaws come once every 4/5 months but DH won't entertain the idea of replacing with a sofa bed as his parents need a proper bed.

I'd love to turn it into a play room with sofa bed and tv to have somewhere to throw all the toys (and children!) into.

Ours is full of baby crap and needs clearing out. It does have a nice desk in though that DH and I sometimes work from home at.

Might pinch the projector idea for our new house though, I like that idea.

Having the projector up there is amazing!!! We never bothered to set it up that often in the living room, just watched stuff on the tv. But it's all up there now, (speakers and projector can fit inside a wardrobe when guests are here) but we don't need to bother packing it all away till we have someone staying. it's been so lovely watching a Disney movie all snuggled up together in the bed.

Dh suggested that maybe he could wire up his PlayStation to it - that way he can relax in bed kill evil zombies on a big screen. I love this idea, it can make it into a man cave area for him and means the room is used more.

I am also using the idea of a play room for stuff that can't be broken up. Dd has her playmobil set up in there now and is delighted that her little brother doesn't bulldoze his way through it, I am happy that all the choking hazards are now out of the living room.

Although the room isn't used daily, we're getting more enjoyment out of it now
