Anyone have four children and one very tiny bathroom? Beginning to wonder how we will cope!

And when I say tiny: the bath fits along the long wall, and the loo and sink are opposite each other, with the door in between. There is just enough room to dry yourself!

Is this going to be a total nightmare???

Guess you all have two bathrooms then ....

Ive got a tiny bathroom.I get the DD's out the bath one at a time and they dry off in the living room. DS's go upto their room, dry and get dressed/PJs on.
Its not a nightmare really.

What do you do in the space in a bathroom? Swing a cat? All I do is wash hands, go to loo, shower, or bath, brush teeth etc. Wouldn't know what to do with an space in a bathroom!

Miaou · 31/12/2006 13:31

Extra space would just mean that two could use it at once, eg having a bath and brushing teeth etc. At the moment, if I am bathing ds, no-one can get in the door, which is a PITA.

Good to hear it is feasible though! My dds are too old to have baths together any more and I do wonder what it will be like when they hit puberty - argh!

We had that with the first few children. My ex husband installed a sink in one bedroom upstairs which did help. Then we moved but we still just had one bathroom but in that next house we had a bathroom and loo in separate rooms, that old style of house which I think helps.
By the time the girls hit puberty and spent things like 45 minutes in the bath etc. my work was going better so one girl got her own en suite as did my ex and I and the other 2 teenagers shared the family bathroom and the twins had an en suite so now we've got those 4 bathrooms and 5 toilets. he he...

Heps if you have teenage boys. I remember a stage when persuading him into the bathroom at all was quite a feat.

Yes we have 4 dc sharing one bathroom, although we do have another seperate toilet and washbasin, and yes it is a nightmare, as apart from dd all the rest are in their teens.

Basically showers are banned in the morning, and we are meant to have a rota (ha ha, as if ds age 13 needs another excuse not to clean his teeth)

You need to have a schedule, otherwise it is like the Keystone Cops. Very stressful when trying to get to work on time.

lol Xenia at your four bathrooms and five loos! You can all pee simultaneously (just about!)

My dds are still at the "force them into the bathroom" stage. In fact dh and I Had Words with them last night . I'm thinking ahead to when they are older, but who knows, we might have a bigger house by then (and pigs might fly). Currently have two dds and one ds, and one db due in July, gender unknown

We only have one small bathroom and three kids two of them teenagers. It is hard sometimes but mostly it works out. It is just a case of being considerate to others and waiting really! Oh and think of the cleaning if you had more bathrooms!

We had a similar problem in our house, albeit we do have a shower room too. But what we did with our bathroom was to rehinge the door so that it opened outwards rather than into the room. It means that there is quite alot more room ......not that expensive to have done either.

Good luck
