My Cleaner.....

Would you be happy if:

Your cleaner hooved the living room and did not hoover under the chairs, rung, wipe the dust?

If you asked her 4 times to hoover the stairs before she did it.

if she left the polish and cleaning clothes littered all over th house

if she missed cleaning the sink in the bathroom

If you had to write her a list every week and she ignored most of it?

While you are debating this I shall go clean up after her

An ex-work colleague of mine had a cleaner who did not appear to clean very well. One day all became clear when the window cleaner came to collect his money and pointed out that they hadn't been able to the back bedroom window because "your mother was having a sleep and we didn't want to disturb her"
beety is your cleaner sleeping on the job LOL?

"these cleaners are told not to tidy just to clean" is that the same with every firm? I don't have a problem with keeping the house tidy but I hate dusting and vacuum cleaning with a passion!

I think most cleaning firms have the same approach, obviously not (hopefully!) the individual cleaners. One large company (MM's!) has the same approach and also won't let cleaners wash up or empty and fill dishwashers. I can see how it is easier to clean if the decks are clear, so to speak, but most people want someone to do the things they haven't got time for themselves, like clearing up breakfast dishes washing and putting away and general tidying and then cleaning, its obvious really!

We had a list of what had to be done on which days that she followed and she still does. Some things aren't done as I would but it's tolerable when you've had someone for many years.

If she's ignoring what you tell her to do it's not on.

Ours tidies but so do I and the house is usually fairly tidy anyway. She doesn't tidy like I do because she can't risk putting things away the children may want left out. I think most tidy up to some extent. Sometimes you can't actually clean until it's tidy anyway.

Yes definately easier if the place is clean, I still do some private cleaning jobs that I kept from the days when I was with the company. The people I clean for are great and know that it is easier if it is tidyish. Every clean I do includes top dusting (cobwebs) skirting boards that I can get to, general dusting including doors and hoovering, in the kitchen, I am lucky that there is never any washing up, I clean all cupboards etc., worktops and door fronts, glass clean where needed and hoover and mop floors. I will tidy for these people, because I respect them and them me, they rarely leave a mess and when they do i just know its because they were running late, so tidy and put away where I can. My customers call me if they have left the iron on!, or to let the dog out, or if they think they didn't lock up properly and I do these things because they treat me well during the year. I also do not take it badly if they leave specific instructions on certain days, I just like to make it nice for them when they come home. But I am paid well, my average is £25 for a two hour clean but actually I could easily charge more and do for larger houses.
