I need to buy a washing machine; first in 18 years

The cheapest I can see from Tesco is £300.
I'm spending £5 pw at the laundrette.

I'm confused re integrated/freestanding.

Integrated means it's part of the kitchen furniture, free standing I think means you just slot it in a gap as opposed to having it fixed in the furniture. Never heard of washing machines being integrated though, dishwashers, yes, but no washing machines, they vibrate too much?! Dunno.

Also, if it's not an urgent purchase, might be worth applying for a JL credit card, you get vouchers back for in store purchases. I have one solely for big appliance/electronic purchases.

We had an integrated washing machine in our old flat so it's definitely a thing you can have if you choose. It just had a cupboard door and a kick board.

JL are supposed to price match but they often get round this by getting manufacturers to give them "exclusives" (often the same as an existing model but with a different name/number) so it's still worth shopping around.

I wouldn't touch Hotpoint again with 10ft pole. We had one a few years ago - only lasted 18 months before it was written off completely.

Hotpoint got bought out by Indesit about 10 years ago and since then, they've been a bit crap. Not at all like they used to be.

Our relatives got through several hot points before buying a Miele.

Miele have a factory outlet in Oxfordshire.

Have a look at Appliances Online (AO.com). Great retailer for white goods.

Love my AEG but they aren't that cheap. John lewis 1205 came out top in a review I read and it's only £299. Agree AO.com are also great especially if you need quick delivery.

I have recently bought a Bosch with 1400 spin from ao.com. Has timer so you know how long the cycle is, and my favourite thing is, you can add clothes after it has started, fab for when you've dropped a sock on the way to the machine or found another white to go in!
