Help on dinning table protectors (heat resistant)

About to take delivery of a wooden dinning table. I want to get a table protector which is heat resistent. Do table protectors drape down like a table cloth or are they thick and sit on top of the table ie exactly same dimensions as table? My table has an extention and I don't want to buy 2 protectors for when it is normal length and extended length.

Thanks

They sit on top, cut to the size of hte table. They are thciker and more rigid so wont drape.

I suppose you could get one, and then a smaller piece to put on in addition next to it when the table is extended.

I've got an extending table and just one long table protector that I use both when table shorter or longer length, without problems.

We did what kelly suggests, had the main one then a bit extra to add when the table's extended. With the cloth over, you can't tell

I trimmed ours to the just bigger than size of our oval table extended then it drapes slightly when not.

Thank you. Can anyone reccomend place to purchase them? Also can you easily cut them down your self at home?

We got ours from John Lewis. We have a rectangular dining table with two extensions so we had one piece and two extra bits depending on how much we extend it. We always go clothless now though so we got rid of it.

My mum has an oval extending table and now has two protectors, depending on whether it is extended but she used to have one for when it was normal size and a moon-shaped bit that fitted on the end for when it was extended.

There are different tyoes - some are thicker and harder to cut but it's easy to do at home.

I thought my parents one came from john lewis too. It was very thick, but my dad jsut marked it out and cut it with a good pair of scissors. Carpet scissors would do it.

I got mine from john lewis. tbh, if your table is rectangular, you won't need to cut it yourself would you? I didn't. I simply bought 1 large piece slightly longer than the max. length. I suppose you'd only need to cut it if you decide to go for the 2 piece exactly fitting option. The advantage of the 1 longer piece draping is a. less work. b. the overhang will also provide cushioning protection to your table edges
