I think there may be biscuit mixed in, whatever it is it's dried like concrete and I don't want to scrub at it in case I damage the dvd.

ok, you can be quite rogh when cleaing dvds BUT youhave to make sure that before you try to rub or possibly even scrub with a clean washing up brush that it is thourough;y wet and you have used a decent amount of fairy liquid or similar. I have washed alot of cd's and dvd's. You must run hot water and then squirt washing up liquid onto the dvd and then gently work up a slippery lather on the dvd then you can brush it and rub harder as long as it is slippery you should't damage it at all. I haven't damaged any yet. The best way to dry is with paper towels cause tea towels usually leave bits of fluff

Hope this helps

Hot water, washing up liquid and soft cloth. Soak to soften it, it shouldn't hurt the dvd but don't immerse if you are worried.

I use washing up liquid (as advised below) with a sponge scourer meant for non-stick pans (ie the white one, not the green one)

I didn't realise you could wash them that much! I always use baby wipes then dry with a soft cloth - or the inside of my t-shirt!

Thanks everyone, I'll get the washing up liquid out.
