Steam mop on wooden floor?

That's it really, will a steam mop ruin a wooden floor?

Oak floors here and I use the steam cleaner ('x 5' - too much middle of the night tv when pregnant ).

I use it with the heating on and the windows open to create heat and a draft all at once to dry the floors as quickly as possible.

My floors are fine but aren't shiny from it. I don't know if it's doing any damage tbh but I love how fresh they are when done.

Don't risk it.

I asked this somewhere and answer was a big no! I use method wooden floor cleaner and a microfiber mop and seems to work fine.

Not unless it is a sealed floor I believe.

Wood doesn't like changes in humidity, which make it split. I can imagine you might be minimising the damage by drying it very fast, but I can't imagine the steam isn't penetrating at all, so I think it will still be hurting the wood.
I love my steam cleaner but don't let it near wood (except when I went a bit mad when it was new and wrecked the varnish on our kitchen table...)
