Which washing machine?

I've never bought a washing machine before, either lived in rented or inherited one when we've bought a house.

The one we have is old, inefficient and I would like to replace it.

I have NO idea what to go for, the choice is incredible! Things I know I want it to have are

• A screen which tells me how long is left
• A hand wash setting

That's it, don't mind on brand or anything. So how do I chose?!

what exactly do you need from your washer? Big drum? Fast spin? Where is located, does it need to be a quiet model or is that not so important? What's your budget?

Also, would you rather spend more and get a washer that will last a long time she has a long warranty or are you not so fussed about maybe having to replace it in 5 or so years?

The 2 best washers we've had have been an inexpensive Beko and a very expensive Miele. We got 6 years out of the Beko and it was never off. It was also repairable but we had enough to get a better machine by then.

This looks pretty good. 8kg, 1200 spin lots of cycles, time display, hand wash and a quick wash that will actually wash a full load unlike most quick washes which only do half. Good price too!

My current machine is an 8kg 1200 spin Samsung with digital display screen, delayed start function and a myriad of programmes that are all v useful incl 15 min quick wash and handwash etc. Its only annoying trait is that it plays what I assume is some sort of random Korean folk inspired tune when the wash is done . Has a 5 year warranty and cost about £350 about 6 months ago. So far so good.
My last machine was a bog standard 6kg 1200 spin Bosch which only lasted about 4 years, and which I was disappointed with as I thought it would last longer, hence why I went for a different brand, as per above, when it died.
Before the Bosch I had a £150 el-cheapo 5kg 1200 spin Candy machine that dealt with 2 x DCs baby and toddler years (inc washable nappies) plus a house move, and which, despite its hammering, lasted an excellent 8 years .
I would never bother with a machine faster than 1200rpm spin as a WM engineer advised me that the faster spinning models are more liable to break down, plus they are usually noisier, which is a consideration if your machine will not be tucked away in a futility room etc.

I second rabbit on the Beko. For the money it has been brilliant. And still is.

We have a Samsung ecobubble. 8kg 1400rpm spin. Very quiet apart from the tune. It was a Best Buy on which when we got it. 5 year warranty.

Previous was an AEG, they were very good machines but since they moved to Electrolux are crap! Ours cost £650 and lasted only 4 year of medium use.

I have a Samsung ecobubble too. 11kg 1400rpm and I love it.
It's the best machine I have had, (and I have had a lot).
It's 2 years old now and not had a problem with it, which is a first for me.
My last machine was a hoover and it was terrible, it broke down 8'times in 12 months, hated it😒
