Smelly duck down duvet

Hiya,

Recently moved house and 'treated' ourselves to an incredibly expensive feather duvet and pillows from m&s. We had used feather at a friends house and loved it, so wanted one of our own.

The problem is, it's quite whiffy. Hard to describe the smell really.... I guess it must be ducks?!!

Now, this feather duvet has already caused a bit of controversy due to the expense. So ideally I want to fix the smell with no-one realising

Any ideas????

No idea. I bought a duck down mattress topper and it's rank. I keep meaning to phone Argos and try to get them to take it back because it's disgusting. Stay away from duck feathers! Stinky beasts

It's from M&S? Take it back.

I would bring it back. I had a similar issue with pillows, washed and tumble dried then and stank the whole house out and they smelled even worse! I've got feather duvets that smell nothing like that.

I have new pillows that smell weird too; can't understand why they are sold in this state. At least mine were cheap! Take it back.

I'd take it back. I have a down duvet, pillows and various coats and none have ever smelt.

I'd take it back and buy microfibre cluster instead, much more luxurious in pile and weight.

Would have down now if you paid me, for one the ducks are treated horrific in having the feathers ripped out of their skin, and also the thought of sleeping under anything animal doesn't appeal to me.
