Hi, not sure if I'm in the right department, but does anyone know a good breadmaker? I was thinking of buying one for my DH for Christmas.

I got this one a few weeks ago and have used it nearly every since, its FABULOUS for the price imho.

dingdongmerRADLEYonhigh · 09/12/2006 15:50

that should have said, used it nearly every DAY since.

The Panasonic SD253 is THE breadmaker to get - everyone seems to recommend it and it has won loads of awards. I've had mine for almost a year now and have used it daily - am very pleased with it.

Have heard onprevious MN breadmaker threads that Panasonic is the only way to go.

GlennCloseAsCruellaDeVille · 10/12/2006 10:18

ok then radley's one is a lot more affordable..is it a very good alternative to the panasonic

or what makes the panasonic so worth having for the extra?

RubberDuckWithCranberrySauce · 10/12/2006 10:42

From memory from reviews, the Panasonic is supposed to be consistently good across all bread types (white, brown, etc) whereas many other brands tend to be good on one programme and not necessarily as good with the others. That said, I know nothing about the Cookworks breadmaker and I can't find any online reviews about it either.

Whichever one you go for I recommend not relying on the recipes that come with it and getting Fresh Bread in the Morning as a companion book - far less fussy, far less ingredients and brilliant bread.

Thanks for that RubberDuckWithCranberrySauce, I've just ordered that, i am getting used to, and loving the smell of fresh bread once again (when I was pg with dd2 I would throw up at the smell)
