Magic erasers!

Hi there this is my first post!

Just wanted to share with others about magic erasers. I cannot recommend them enough it's all I talk about with friends!
Started using them a few weeks ago, for general cleaning, window frames, doors, stubborn marks on walls. I can't believe how quick and easy things look brand new and there is no scrubbing, just gentle rubbing.
I recently used them on my kitchen floor tiles and got loads of dirt up that I can't remove with a steam mop, also used on skirting boards. The only downside is how quick they disintergrate due to it being an eraser.
But I buy mine from Poundland and you get two sponges for £1 so I tend to buy three or four packs. Absolutely amazing product and can never be without them now.
I have a very sticky handed 6 year old boy, so when ever I see grubby marks out comes the eraser you would never know!
Does anybody else use these? And what do you think?

Yes I use them, but I talk to my friends about other stuff

MaisieDotes · 25/10/2015 12:47

I find them great but they're quite dear in Tesco. I must have a look in Poundland, or Dealz at it's called here.

Davros · 25/10/2015 13:08

I'm a big fan. Used them to clean Ugg boots and longchamp bag as well as lots of other stuff

insertimaginativeusername · 25/10/2015 13:13

Just bought some the other day from Aldi but not braved using them yet so I like this thread! Might go mad round the house in a bit!

Is there anything I really shouldn't use them on?

NashvilleQueen · 25/10/2015 13:17

Also a fan. But how to they work? Always wonder that as I'm using them.

DoreenLethal · 25/10/2015 13:27

I love them but have never sat and talked about them over coffee. I once mentioned 'Bold Chamomile and Lavender' and got looked at like Hmm.

Magic Erasers would definitely be a step too far.

Alimoo90 · 25/10/2015 13:30

I suppose it was all I spoke about at the time! Maybe that day.
But I am still amazed when I use them now how clean things are after using. I'm not sure how they work or how they are made. I have also bought the flash kitchen erasers and will tackle tiles with that when I have the time. So not sure if they will work better or not.
Not sure what they can't be used on as everything I have cleaned with this works , I suppose it's just trying.

They're really cheap if you get them on amazon; 60 for less than a fiver. I have small dc and these are fab for sticky finger marks.

Alimoo90 · 25/10/2015 15:15

Wow thanks Gracie, when I run out that'll be where I get them from. Always useful around the house

Okay - don't use them on hard plastics or non stick surfaces. They will scratch. Magic erasers are made of melamine and are abrasive. A small amount of melamine comes off as you use them, which can leave a whitish film you have to wipe off. That's why they disintegrate in use too.

Alimoo90 · 25/10/2015 20:57

Yes wowfudge , I did notice the white film left after scrubbing, I now take a wet rag around to wipe clean after. Thanks for that!

Sorry this might be a stupid question but can you use them on painted walls?

Alimoo90 · 26/10/2015 11:35

I do but I just rub dont scrub! I've seen crayons and grubby finger marks come off.

verystressedmum · 27/10/2015 08:15

I've used these on painted walls, it does take the marks off but go gently as I think it took some paint off too.

WhataRacquet · 27/10/2015 13:29

All the bits that come off them make such a mess though. I have given up using them.

AlbusPercival · 27/10/2015 13:32

DH managed to fill the bath with rust stains by washing his chain mail in there. (How I wish I was joking!)

Nothing shifted them, the magic eraser did, and now my shabby old enamel bath looks lovely again

PeterParkerSays · 27/10/2015 13:49

I got mine from Amazon, you can get them cheaply on there is you buy in bulk - I think it was about £8 for a huge bag.

They're good for getting marks of the bath from DS' bath toys looking at you killer whale and I use them to clean bits of the bath if they need a good scrub as they don't leave any marks on the bath. Good for taps too.

I tried one on a pencil mark on the wall but it didn't shift, but that's been my only failure so far.

Alimoo90 · 27/10/2015 14:49

I'm got dirt off grout too with these

PILs have a massive black permanent marker line on the wall. Do you think it would work on that?

Alimoo90 · 29/10/2015 09:59

No harm in trying and it's not too expensive to buy. Just gently rub and see if it starts to come off
