Slimline dishwasher

Do you have a slimline dishwasher? What makes would you recommend?

We have a space of 46cm and most models appear to be 45cm so it'll be a squeeze - but hopefully so worth it! I've never had one before and am stupidly excited about having my evenings transformed!

Please come and talk to me about yours.

We've got a hotpoint sdl510. Got it from John Lewis for £200.

Would NOT be without it now - you do have to manually (ugh) was up larger items (big baking trays for example) but it's much better than using every conceivable pot going before bothering washing up everything by hand.

Get yourself to aldi for magnum dishwasher tablets - cracking quality and bargainous compared to the £1 per wash branded tablets!

Thanks for the tip Turquoise Grin

My Mum has a Bosch slimline which is brilliant. It's pretty much the same as our full sized one but smaller. Very quiet and it washes well.

rabbit123 · 10/10/2015 11:09

Also, the Bosch we had was much better than the Miele that we have now. I really regret getting rid of it

bosch logixx slim line here. sahm and two children. we run it x1 in 24 hrs.

stack it carefully to make sure water swishes everywhere and buy a smaller wok and you'll be able to fit it in with the handle overlapping.

you might need to buy flatter cereal bowels too to fit more in.

its the more expensive one but it makes great use of space with cutlery drawer at top rather than basket using space in the middle.

its so nice and quiet too.

pinechesterdrawers · 10/10/2015 16:19

bosch logixx as above is 390 in AO.

honestly, a game changer in our household!

I got a beko slimline one three years ago, lovely Matt charcoal colour- and (touch wood) have had absolutely no problems with it

sometimes I stroke it and tell it how much I love it

Amazing how much you can fit into even a slimline, mine can do 10 dinner plates and 2/3 saucepans and cutlery holder on the bottom rack then 15 or so mugs and glasses and small things on the top

Bloody brilliant

I have a bosch Excel slimline. Most days (2 adults, 2 older DCs) we fill it once in 24hrs. Do have to hand wash larger items if you have used a lot (eg a roast dinner) but then I don''t think the extra space for a full size one would make that much difference to that- and sometimes we don't fill it at all in 24hrs.
I had the space for bigger one - currently have a 15cm cupboard next to it that could be moved if I found slimline not big enough ...but 7yrs later I haven't...
(I also like mine because you can take the top rack out all together and fit a sprinkler thing on the back and wash things like oven shelves or the filters from the extraction - I can even fit in the plastic recycling bin (about 50 cm high) so it gets a really good clean every few months (a job I otherwise hate doing!)

wherehaveigonewrong · 10/10/2015 20:05

I have a bosch slimline one, I was given it luckily by someonewho was moving house, and even tho I live alone I wouldn't be without it. It goes on every other day, more if I have guests, and icould never go back to washing up by hand now. Squeeze it in if you can. :)

Jenijena · 10/10/2015 20:07

Slimline Miele here, in 45.5cm space or something ridiculous.

Usually X1 a day unless a baking or big cooking day - probably run it 8/9 times a week. Love it :)

GrubbyWindows · 10/10/2015 22:42

Very basic, cheap Beko which came with the house- and it is GREAT. Much better than any of the big dishwashers my Mum has got through over the years, and better than the (terrible) Miele my Dad used to have.
But I do like the sound of unlucky83's removable shelf for blitzing oven trays and bins…
two adults and a toddler here, and we cook a lot, and fill it every day, occasionally three times in two days. The quick program is very quick though, and very clean.

KatharineClifton · 10/10/2015 23:03

I have the cheap Beko slimline and no problems, love it! Put it in under the draining board.

WingsClipped · 14/10/2015 07:46

Bosch slimline here. We just HAD to buy one after using it in a holiday cottage and deciding we couldn't face washing dishes when we got home.

Artistic · 14/10/2015 09:39

Bosch excel

GinBunny · 16/10/2015 10:39

thanks for all the comments and suggestions so far.

I am deliberately bumping this because we've had the quote through to do rejig the kitchen to make the space so it's full steam ahead! We'll be going out this weekend to look at what's around before making a decision.

Does anyone have a model that they wouldn't recommend? Our dishwasher at work isn't great at getting things clean which really defeats the purpose of getting one!
