children cleaning

I want to teach my boys to clean up after themselves.

Mainly the bathroom, wiping the sink and not pissing all over the toilet seat.

However I presuming normal cleaning products aren't safe for them to use (flash, Mr Muscle etc).

Am I being precious or are there more child friendly ones.

They are 10 and 7.

washing up liquid does a good job and is safe to use. maybe cream cleaner as well.

Dd (4) out of her own choice, will wipe the bathroom sink out with the facecloth after she has finished the toothpaste etc. I haven't discouraged it at all and while isn't 'clean' as such she is still cleaning up after heself. She also wipes the seat with toilet paper if there is any wee on it.

I'd guess and of the cleaning wipes would be okay as long as you teach them to put them in the bin not the toilet and wash their hands afterwards.

WUL and those flat coloured sponges (Spontex washing up type) are OK. They rinse out cleaner and dry quicker than cloths. WUL will not hurt their hands.

BTW if you rinse them, squeeze out, then add a squirt of WUL and squeeze so it foams, it prevents bacterial growth and smells on the sponge or cloth.

Dh taught our 2 ds to just wipe round the toilet with loo roll and pop it in the loo. They are only 3 and 6 (3 year old does it happily all by himself, no reminders; 6yo forgets to flush even after a poo).

Vinegar in a spray bottle is great for around the loo, neutralises urine.
