I was in the shops today and saw a Tefal Actifry for £109.99 and. Russell Hobbs Purifry for £59.99.

Has anyone used either of these and able to recommend? Is the tefal one worth nearly double the price?

I keep being tempted by these. I'm afraid I have no advice but my message will hopefully bump yours to someone more wise!

I don't know about these but just wanted to share I make amazing chips with a halogen oven on work top.

Cut potatoes in chip shapes . Boil for 7-8 mins. Rough them up a little.

Then 10 minutes at 200 deg and further 10 at 220. They come out lovely. You could also use TBsp oil and shake chips about in saucepan before the oven cooking too.

PS. I use frylight.

I have an actifry' its my second/ third (we gave our first to a friend when the bigger one came out). We use it three or four times a week. Mainly for chips, cajun chips, herby crispy potato squares and rissoto.

I cleared out lots of kitchen gadgets when we down sized two years ago but the actifry has its own slot in a cupboard and is very well used.

What i love is you just chop the potatos bung them in, drizzle oil and press start. No real faff.

A really lazy meal is oven chips with frozen sausages no extra oil needed. Just decant the bag of oven chips, add the sausages and the chips cook in the sausage fat.

Ours is high use and i have found they don't last that long, around two years, with this much use. Various bits are replaceable but the plastic seams to perish.

Thank you. Gosh, 2 years isn't very long fro something costing over £100 to last! Anyone tried the Russell Hobbs purify?

I have a actifry, a large family one.

I use mine for chips and wedges mainly (sometimes roasties), I like it, it easy to use and clean. You can cook other things in it like stir fry but I found it more hassle than a wok stir fry.

Can't say if it's worth twice the price of the Russel Hobbs one as only used the tefal version.
