Is Henry the best hoover and if not, what is?

Would like something big and powerful. Storage space not a problem.
Thanks.

My Miele would piss all over a Henry. Best 300 quid I ever spent.

Hornydilemma · 17/09/2015 11:25

My Henry is brill - first bag lasted about a year with no loss of suction.

I think organisations tend to buy Henry's BUT if they aren't maintained (blockages in the hose, bags not changed, crap knockoff bags used) I think the suction goes.

We used to vacuum in DD's school after using classrooms in the evening and the Henry there was crap - because it didn't belong to anyone in particular, it got no maintenance at all.

My Henry is about 10 years old, I love him!
I used to work in a tile shop and we used our Henry for all of the tile debris when we knocked displays off. If it would fit in the nozzle he gobbled it up! He was still alive and kicking after about 5 years of tile and grout gobbling. Grin

Miele Cat and Dog makes hoovering a pleasure

TSSDNCOP · 17/09/2015 14:12

Miele, as requested by my cleaner after she trashed the Dyson broke.

Henry is shit. Used at work, bloody silver thing never stayed locked together.

ThatsNotMyRabbit · 17/09/2015 14:20

Henrys are awful. No brush, have a tantrum and fling themselves over if you try to drag them round corners and they smell.

rabbit123 · 17/09/2015 15:47

The Miele bags are smaller, cost more to buy and you get less in a box compared with Henry. I stuck my Cat & Dog on eBay and went back to using my 20 year old Sebo.

Re: Kirby. My parents have one that they bought in the mid-80's. It's never gone wrong. Fantastic vacuum but it was about £1200 new, weighs a tonn and it's a right faff trying to put the hose on

I've got a Henry after years of using fusion, Hoover and vax. I've got wood flooring, tiles, limestone, vinyl and carpet throughout the house and he handles every single one perfectly [proud]. Rarely have to change the bag despite having three children and a black dog with cream carpets and I hope he lasts many more years!

I fell for the 'cleaners use Henry's so they are the best' line.

Crap. I hate mine. It's heavy, cumbersome and is not that effective on hard floors (my house is exclusively tiled/wood). It's always falling over and the cable gets tangled under the body. And it's so heavy to lug around. It doesn't have an intuitive bone in its body (unlike Miele).

I wish mine would die but it's only four years old and will probably live for ever. The only good thing is that it has a very long cable (but this can also be a pain - see above point re tangling). It's also quite cheap as are the bags.

cleowasmycat · 18/09/2015 20:54

Fucking hate my Henry and it's stupid smug face. DP prefers the little shit and I swear at it everytime it manages to get out from under the stairs.

StompyFreckles · 18/09/2015 20:58

Dyson animal!

bigbuttons · 18/09/2015 21:00

I loathe my Henry, it's consigned to the shed for use when my other cheap and better hover breaks down and before I get another.
