Circotherm Oven and Cooking

My new kitchen is all but completed. Over this past number of days I've been reading about my oven, a Neff neff u15m52n3gb, it talks though about Circotherm cooking system and truly that has me confused.

Is this 'Circotherm' heating system exclusive to Neff, and if so what's the learning curve like when switching over from a conventional fan assisted?

I'll give you two examples. I would normally bake a 500 gram white loaf in my old oven at 200 C for about 30 minutes. An average size chicken 90 minutes at 200 degrees. My oven is really old and these temperatures mightn't be exactly correct but I hope you get my meaning.

How would you alter the above times temperature if Circotherm cooking?

I have searched the net and I can't seem to come across Circotherm recipes. If I had a selection of recipes then I could work out what to do with my normal recipes.

Do you use a Circotherm oven. Any tips, any advice any recipes? They really would be appreciated

Kevin

Would you be using shelf position 3 by any chanc?. Circotherm in recent times used a different temperature on the 3rd shelf than the rest of the oven. Newer range ovens have even temperatures, but the old models were not so great.

Hi I've just got acircotherm and circa roast neff..... I haven't tried cooking a roast dinner in it yet and am keen to try the circoroast, but can't understand from instructions if I would use that setting throughout the cooking time or just for the browning/crisping period?? I'm baffled!!!

I have been using Neff ovens for about 40 years and swear by them. Circotherm is a name for forced air cooking. The air is heated outside the oven cavity and then fed into it. I invariably find that up to 190 degrees normal I take off 10 degrees and 200 + I take off 20 degrees. My roast potatoes are usually crispy outside and soft in,. Colour is not as brown as in some conventional ovens though. Toasted sandwiches are a dream - fill sandwich but butter outside of bread not inside put on wire rack and cook for 10 - 12 mins. 190 degrees. They're great. I do bacon the same way. Means I can forget about it whilst I do the rest of the meal. Have just had a new oven - full steam. I must admit am having to get used to this - rices was brilliant. Roasties needed a bit longer cooking to crisp up. Annoyin that manual doesn't give and info re roast veg. Try contacting Neff if not - they do demos round the county which are really good and helpful. You Tube have some. Hope this rather long post helps.

Hi Jules
Just read your views about Neff Circotherm and would love to know which model you have with Circoroast option, as I am thinking about getting one but after reading some of the reviews am having second thoughts! Thank you

Has anyone cooked a beef joint using the Neff combi oven features. I have been told that you can but can't find out what combination to use? I have a slide and hide cirotherm single oven and the combination oven and microwave. I have to say that I am really impressed with the cirotherm you just need to remember to lower your temperature pet the conversion guide.

Hi loops29red
I wonder if you’ve mastered cooking a roast dinner in your oven yet, using the circoroast function, and if so how did you get on? Am thinking about buying one with this function but having used a gas oven for years I just don’t feel confident after reading all this! If anyone else can also offer any advice I’d be most grateful. Thanks

Circotherm is a trade name. It's actually forced air cooking - air is heated outside the cavity and then blown in, I use 160 degrees for most things. Sponges especially. A 4 egg mix in one round tin 9" I think takes roughly 35 minutes. I have used Neff ovens for many years - getting on for 40! I swear by them. Items do not brown as much as with ordinary ovens but food is cooked. Stuff like pastry which is too brown has high levels of acrylamide which you don't want. My husband and both daughters as well as myself can all make super roast potatoes in them. Toasted sandwiches are simple - two slices of bread per sandwich. Butter the outside of the bread and fill the inside. Pop into the oven at 190 butter side outside and cook for about 10 - 12 mins. Great whilst you get on with the other jobs. I cook bacon the same way. Casseroles can take a little more water than usual. The grills are excellent and cook evenly. It is important the oven is installed properly so is absolutely level as if not it will cook unevenly - discovered that when I had one my man who can do most things took one look at it and said it is uneven. He re-fitted, problem cured. Neff have help on their website. THey also hold lots of events round the country which are well worth attending. Hope this helps.

I am about to buy a new oven and have been looking at Neff because the store oven expert has suggested it would suit me best. She has said this because I am a compulsive baker and the oven in this house has very dodgy heat control as the temp plummets 15C when the oven is opened to insert something, then takes ages to regain heat, then spirals to 10-15C above the set heat. Result is cakes that do not rise as the heat has dtopped too low when they are put in, and then dry out during the reheating and then overbake on top when the temp soars. All this by way of getting to my question for anyone out there with a fairly new Neff oven and is a cake/cookie/bread/pastry baker rather than someone who does roast lamb and potatoes. I would love to hear comments from a fellow baker about Neff oven.

I have a Neff oven (double oven - very useful!). My main oven can be used with circotherm but as my unit is old, the hottest it can go is 190 degrees. We want to cook a goose for Christmas Day, it's a bit of a tight fit for the top oven as I believe you shouldn't sit anything directly on the bottom of the oven. In the main one, we want 200 degrees. If we put it in the middle of the oven, will it still cook properly?
