Online family diary app

Can anyone recommend a good calendar app for Apple devices that works on multiple accounts?
I could try a Google calendar but DH uses hotmail - would that make a difference?! Or would it be best to set up a new gmail account and share it?

Use Apple family and share an iCloud calendar? I have my work calendar and also a 'family' calendar which DS1 gets on his iPad and DS2 gets on his iPod. DH doesn't have an apple device so doesn't get it but it is mainly so the kids don't plan things when we are already busy.
