Children's clothes - Aaaaargh!

My DC have too many clothes (First world problem admittedly, but I'm a hoarder and need to tackle this)

We are lucky enough to have been given lots of hand-me-down clothes but as a result, the DCs wardrobes are bursting.

I was just wondering what is a "normal" amount of clothes for 7 and 9 yr old girls?

How many pairs of leggings/trousers, how many t-shirts, skirts, dresses, jumpers, cardigans do your DC have?

Thanks

My DC tend to have the following which they actually wear:

2 pairs of shorts
2 pairs of jeans / leggings
4 T shirts
2 - 3 long sleeve tops
1 or 2 hoodies / cardigans
1 or 2 jumpers

We have much more in our drawers, but this is what is actually worn.

My DC also have too many clothes. Non-uniform school, which doesn't help... But also finding anything that properly fits is a nightmare. You think trousers fit them, they say they do, then on the second wear or so you notice that they keep falling down but you're not going to get rid of a new pair of trousers - so you end up with 12 pairs of trousers, 2 of which fit, three are ever so slightly short but good for park, three slightly long, 2 a weird cut and 2 expose their bottoms every time they bend over...

1 pr slim jeans
1 pair winter cords
Leggings - black, grey, flowery so 3
Skirts 1 winter, 1 all year round
Shorts x3, 2 would be plenty but she really liked them all
Dresses 3 summer, 2 winter, plus party dress
T shirts too many, I think 4ish per season would be enough as she prefers dresses.
Cardis 2, but she has a couple of club uniform hoodies which she also wears casually, and a fleece too (age 4 but not quite outgrown!)
3 pr winter tights

it is far too many clothes for someone who wears uniform 5 days a week, but it's an anount she can manage at least.

My DD and DS have far more than previous posters - I do tend to go overboard in next and gap sales. Think DD has about 20 tops, 15 dresses, 10 cardigans, 10 skirts, 10 pairs of leggings and about 5 jeans/trousers. DS about 10 shirts, 20 tshirts, 10 shorts and 10 trousers. And the same again in next size up. Will have to do a major cull soon as moving house 300 miles in 6 weeks and don't want to take it all with us and please don't ask about my wardrobe

My list above is post-cull. Her drawers were overflowing with stuff that was completely outgrown, nearly outgrown, still a bit big, a bit stained but ok to wear at home etc etc. Just so complicated. Now she only has stuff that fits, it's way easier!

I would maybe wait till they have stopped wearing their summer stuff and then cull
