potato peelers

My elderly, efficient and comfortable to use y shaped peeler broke recently so I replaced it with a Kuhn Rikon Swiss peeler. On first trying to use it, it didn't work. After trying a few times I tried pushing rather than pulling and it worked. However I found it really awkward and wondered if mine was manufactured wrongly or are they meant to be pushed rather than pulled.

I can't use that type of peeler at all - never got the hang of them. I have a traditional style one, but we have to have a double sided one as I am left-handed.

I use a curved knife for peeling potatoes.

Yes it was a good grips one which broke I think. However examining the new peeler in a good light and wearing my reading glasses I found that I could remove the blade and turn it around so it could be used normally. I think the blade had been put in the wrong way round.
