Mouldy flat

We're moving into a new flat tomorrow and i saw it yesterday and it is so mouldy. There is a really bad smell as you walk in and the outside walls have mould growing up them. What can I do!? It's been a while since I've been in accommodation like this (think grotty student place) and I can't remember how to get rid of it.

Open windows, shut the bathroom door whilst having a bath or shower and the kitchen when cooking.

It is basically opening your windows a lot.

Is there anything I can do to get rid of the smell? Should I have the heating on or off (can't work out if warm is good or bad for mould!). I'm guessing don't put the babies cot against the mouldy walls

clean the place to to bottom.
air it well, heat in between.
wash all soft furnishings if there are any.

good luck

tbh I wouldn't put a child in the flat before the mould is sorted if possible.

Mould can be very dangerous, the fact that its outside too is very worrying and sounds like not just mildew from condensation. I would not move a baby in if it was me.

My son was in a flat like this. I bought him a dehumidifier and it is alot better. He also has a dehumidifier in the wardrobe Although you do need to open the windows. The smell has improved with one of those battery operated air freshener units that squirts out every so often.
