Is there really no way to get rid of this stain?

A nasty snidey little rust coloured stain has appeared on a very expensive white shirt and nothing I try will shift it - not even a little bit. I think it is what's actually called a rust stain but not sure - about half an inch, v shaped and in a very noticeable place. Neat bleach makes no difference. Hot wash & Ariel - no difference.
Has anyone any wisdom to pass on - I will be very Sad if I have to throw the shirt because of this! Thanks

have you tried sunlight? I've had a few persistent stains shift after being hung out facing the sun for a few days in a row.

Try sprinkling on salt, cover the salt with lemon juice then leave in the sun to dry.

Sun? - but I will patiently await it's return and try that - thank you Smile

You could try this method:

This is a last resort & I would (& have) only used it on cotton or clothes I am not worried about too much.

Stretch the stained bit fabric over a bowl so that is taut. (You can use a rubber band).

Being VERY careful, pour boiling water from a kettle on to the stain from as high as you can safely do, with out splashing yourself, usually about 6 - 8 inches.

Most stains will amazingly go with this treatment, especially fruit ones, like blackcurrant.

PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO BURN YOURSELF

Otherwise I would agree with sunlight (hollow laughter)

Oh thanks magi - I'm so desperate not to have to get rid of the shirt that I will try that! It's occurred to me that if I really can't shift it I suppose I could dye it - but it's very useful as a white shirt!

Have you tried white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda? I've never tried it on clothes but it cleans my bathroom tile grout in an instant so could be worth a go? Liquid hand wash is also worth a try, it's surprisingly effective.

Napisan or Oxicleanse with sunlight.

Stain Devils work on old or new stains. Buy at supermarkets.
