How to store Tupperware - tips needed

Hi, I am cleaning out and reorganising my Tupperware cupboard

Sorry, posted too soon. I am sorting and reorganising my Tupperware and wondered how you store it. I have always stored lids separately in a basket, because I was taught that the boxes smell if stored closed. However, re-uniting lids and boxes can be time consuming, so any tips welcome

We store lids and boxes seperately, but husbands fab idea was to number them all up - wish I could take the credit for that one!

The cupboard with them in is always a complete tip though - despite the genius idea, he cannot ever put anything back tidy!

I keep mine in a big Cath Kidston oilcloth bag. Some stored inside each other,nearly all with lids on. I have a teeny tiny kitchen so don't have a cupboard for it.

I was thinking about buying a wire basket to put into cupboard and use as a drawer so lids etc don't fall through space at the back and so that ALL pots are used, not just the ones at the front. However, inspired by Kondo threads I don't want to buy unnecessary storage.

i keep mine with lids on, no more searchign for lids.
that is the plan anyway

Norah - don't they smell strange when you use them if they have been closed for a while? (Or is this a myth perpetuated by my mother or possibly only true for 1960s plastic!)

I dont worry about the smell, hadnt thought about it, dont tend to sniff them.

but i have wasted a lot of time in the past looking for the elusive lid and am happy to store with lids on

for thermos flasks I agree with leaving the lid off as they tend to smell.

Poltergoose wow your cupboard is amazing! I wouldn't dare out a pic of my Tupperware/mixing bowl etc cupboard, everything falls out of it when I open it, same with my pan/oven trays cupboard we had new kitchen only 6 months so it started off nicely - I think I'm always doing things in a rush so just shove stuff away without much thought! I feel like sorting them out now I've seen yours though, - maybe tomorrow though ha ha!

To update - I have just bought a large drawer- style box from Kiera that fits on the top shelf of the cupboard and have put all containers in that. Where I have sets, I have put lids inside bigger containers with the largest lid underneath. Other containers and lids have been numbered ( thank you spydie).
I can now open the cupboard without random pots falling out.

I have 'kondo-ed' my tupperware collection when had new kitchen fitted. I now have a hidden drawer where I store the containers at one end and the lids at the other. I generally also recycle the Carte d'Or ice-cream tubs rather than buying proper tubs as they are a good size and you can chuck them out after a while. They neatly stack together.

The numbering idea is a good one!
