Blast of cold air coming from new oven

I've just got a new De Dietrich double oven along with a new kitchen and am very taken aback at the very strong blast of cold air that comes from both the main and small oven whenever they are on, regardless of setting. This isn't a gentle output of air but one which has the power to ruffle my hair when I'm at the other end of the kitchen.

I'm trying to cope with this by draping a tea towel over the vent outlet which does help to deflect the draft downwards but I'd prefer not to have a tea towel blowing in the wind. We joke about getting a union jack tea towel so that we can really fly the flag.

There's no help to be found in the user instructions or installation guide and I haven't managed to get any sense out of De Dietrich's customer services.

Has anyone come across this 'feature' with any other oven? The Neff I had before didn't emit any draft at all.

Is it designed to keep the outside of the door cool to the touch maybe?

I have a Neff single oven & it does blow cool (ish) air out - though not that strongly!

Just found this on an American site - says it's to keep the electronics cool?

Our freestanding cooker does this, its to keep the doors cool and to stop the controls from overheating as me, DS2 and DH found out abruptly during an oven cleaning gone awry...

My Bosch freestander does this but I'm only aware of the noise, which is like a fan, not aware of any actual draught. Maybe it's a fault?
