Do playrooms get used or are they just dumping grounds?

We have a room off the kitchen that is the playroom or a bedroom when we have people staying.

I think its a great I can close the door on all the clutter at the end of the day, and see dd's when I am working on stuff in the kitchen, (or reading stuff on mn!!)

Sounds ideal, and also good for when they're older - our previous neighbours built a study/extra sitting room so that their teenage daughter had somewhere other than her bedroom to bring her friends, listen to music, do homework, watch tv, without having to be in the living room if they didn't want to be there.

I use our conservatory as a playroom all DD toys are out there plus a settee, TV, Sky and DVD player. If its very cold and dont fancy putting the radiator on out there then she picks one or two baskets of toys to bring into front room and play and then we put them away and pick something different in the afternoon.

Would be lost without it as she wouldnt have ben able to have the big toys she loves (ie ELC Kitchem etc) as wouldnt want all of these in my front room and shes not really old enough to play in her room yet (shes 2.2) also in the summer its lovely as we have the double doors open to the garden so she gets to take her toys in and out of the garden. We thought about making the conservatory a dining room and using the dining room as the play room but it doesnt really work in our house but my advice to anone buying a house these days is if you think you may have kids try and find a house that you'll be able to use one room as a playroom/toy storage room. Like you when she gets older (and DD2 who is due in jan) I'll make it into their homework room/lounge den for when friends come round.

We had half of our garage converted into playroom, doubles up as guest room. Huge sofa. I spend all my time in there and the kids take their toys in the lounge to play! Love it though!

DD has taken over our downstairs garden room as a play room for the winter. She has it made up as a play house wit her dolls, kitchen, shop, etc at the moment and has played in it quite a lot with her friends and on her own. She also uses the apare room - at themoment all her Happy Land is laid out - again she uses this a fair bit on her own.

I think she is using bothr ooms more now as the toys are just there waiting to be used - you don't have to go and get them out and tidy away at the end of play.

def..ours should be our dining rooom but we sold our table and bought a fold up one with cahirs underneath..love not having toys on the lounge and it is between the kitchen and lounge so I can see her playing while cooking/watching tv etc
