Can you recommend a good essential oil to make my house smell fresh and clean?

Lemon or peppermint?

Eucalyptus

dummo alert - what do you do with them? burn them or dilute them or what? I hate air fresheners generally but a hint of lemon or something nice sounds good.

Just put a few drops into some water on one of those burners KBear (with a candle in the burner).

As everything heats up the oil gives off a lovely smell.

If you put lavender oil in a burner in your bedroom about an hour before bed, it is so relaxing and lovely.

I am using clary sage and lavender to see if it will help bring on labour, I put a few drops of each into a bath last night, and also massaged my belly with them when I got out, and the whole house smells of it, which would be great if they smelt nice but they are quite horrible really and so I have all of the windows open trying to get rid of it, but, if it was a nice smell, it certainly seems a good way of getting the aroma into the air

Other ways are to burn in an oil burner (watch the candles) or put a few drops on a lightbulb and switch the light on for a bit.

Would actually avoid lemon, lime, orange etc. All the citrus ones are alcohols so degrade quickly so you'd be forever topping up. Would try cedarwood or cypress (both quite lemony smelling) or bergamot instead which'd last longer.
I'd say the least intrusive way to use them (and safest if you have kids) is to mix several drops with water in a bottle if possible and then either spray or dampen a cloth and wipe that over your radiators and lightbulbs. The heat'll release the smell when they're on.

I've made a mixture of Bergamot, Grapefruit and a tiny bit of Lavender (in a spray bottle with water and vodka) and thats lovely and refreshing.

I'm not sure of the exact amounts -you just have to "twiddle" until you get it right.

(the water and vodka thing was mentioned on another thread on here a while ago so you might find some more tips on that thread)

LIke the spray idea - not keen on candles with kids around. Thanks

Rose is a lovely one for around the house- it doesn't smell artifical and naff like air freshners do. Put a few drops on a cotton wool ball and stick behind radiators, or use an oil burner.

i put lavender oil on bedside lamp bulb, lovely.orange although smell goes quickly is suppose to be very welcoming.

tea tree as it is an anti bacterial as well
But for nice fragrance you cannot beat lavender.

another vote for tea tree.
