Finally reached the bottom of my ironing basket today!

Am just so pleased. At 8.5 months PG my ironing basket has been populated since the end of the summer. However today I managed to clear it completely.

Having done this I attempted to put all the clothes away, only to hear an ominous creak from DD's wardrobe! So I then had a manic sort of all her clothes (in the drawers as well) and have identified about 50% of her wardrobe which she has outgrown!

In turn this will generate loads of stuff to be sold on e-bay, therefore maintaining a decent income during my maternity leave - to top up what I fall short of in Stat maternity pay.

Feeling very pleased with myself!

WHY do people iron? Such a waste of a life

Well done though

VanillaMilkshake · 16/11/2006 16:10

Well have to say most of the stuff at the bottom had been languishing in there since around August .

However a recent foray in to more greener living led me to find some tumble dryer balls on e-bay, which cut down on time when drying.......and means 99% of the stuff that get tumble dired doesnt need to be ironed!

So all I am ironing following my 3 midweek loads will be the stuff that went on the airer, 4 t'shirts and a skirt!

I'm frightned to look in the bottom of mine. There's probably a whole mini civilisation in there.

what is this thing, an "ironing basket"??

VanillaMilkshake · 16/11/2006 16:32

Thanks to my drier balls bundle I am hoping an "Ironing Basket" is soon to become an outdated sort of toture device

i actually look forward to ironing

I do it once a week and I go into our study and iron with some Radio 4 comedy programme online

only takes about 30 mins usually if I do it every week

is nice listening to radio

VanillaMilkshake · 16/11/2006 16:38

Cappacino - that used to be me. I used to love it. But with a bump which I have burnt with the iron on more than one occassion and varicose veins , I no longer enjoy a weekly stint, hence why some of the stuff dated back to the end of our summer holiday!

ironing baskets have bottoms???!!!

Miaou · 16/11/2006 16:41

In the summer we house-sat for a friend whilst she was on holiday (thereby getting a very cheap holiday ourselves!) and in return one of the things I did was iron all the clothes in her ironing pile. I have never seen so many clothes - it took me four evenings to get through it all! She was absolutely thrilled though.

VanillaMilkshake · 16/11/2006 16:45

Miaou - Do you like ironing as a rule? If not how do you class your time away as a holiday - busmans holiday perhaps???

I never iron anything at home. Ever .
