me too (counterbalances the ironing fetish)
my mum washes hers by hand

expatinscotland · 16/11/2006 10:44

i never wash mine in the machine. i do them in the sink w/johnson's baby shampoo.

MerlinsBeard · 16/11/2006 10:44

i put mine in the wash too, never tumble dry tho as i did it once and wore one straight fron dryer only to get burnt by the underwire!

nailpolish · 16/11/2006 10:48

expat details please of hand wash

do you leave to soak? scrub? how long in sink? do you then spin in machine?

what about wireless sports bras?

mine gets v sweaty, and i would rather wash in machine because of this

Mine go in the machine on the quick cycle (30mins) set to 40 degrees, 400 spin, extra rinse with delicates laundry liquid. They come out absolutely fine.

DumbledoresGirl · 16/11/2006 10:53

Oh God give me something else to worry about. I put them in the wash with everything else. Shouldn't I?

nailpolish · 16/11/2006 10:53

i am just finding them fading and colour running

(i dont wear white bras)

its annoying

OP posts:
nailpolish · 16/11/2006 10:54

i bought a green one AUGUST and its going kind of greyish already

expatinscotland · 16/11/2006 10:54

sports bras i used to put in the machine in a mesh bag at 30 degrees w/delicate liquid.

i don't own any now.

so i just soak mine in the sink w/a squirt of johnsons.

LucyJones · 16/11/2006 10:54

I buy M&S machine washable ones

iota · 16/11/2006 10:54

mine go in teh macjine - white ones in the 'whites' wash, the rest in with teh main wash.

but I hang them up to dry, they don't go in teh tumble dryer

NomDePlume · 16/11/2006 10:58

I don't tumble dry either (I don't have a tumble drier)

nailpolish · 16/11/2006 11:06

what do you do in the winter then ndp?

i have a clothes horse in the garage for big stuff but i put all undies and dd's vests etc and socks in the tumble dryer

dont like stuff hanging in the house (if dh hangs washing he has stuff over every door!)

flamesparrow · 16/11/2006 11:06

Washing machine too... I really need to start handwashing them, they cost too much to machine them

NomDePlume · 16/11/2006 11:08

I put stuff on the maiden (clothes horse) in a room we don't use all the time. It dries quite quickly. I just don't like tumble driers and I've never honestly felt that we need on as a family.

I am lucky in that I have Average Norks so, like Lucy, can buy bras from M&S that specifically say Wash At 40 In The Machine.
And we don't have a tumble drier - that's what the dining room's for .

flamesparrow · 16/11/2006 11:11

I dry mine on the bathroom doorhandle

NP - I am obsessive about seperating all my washing into colour loads - is it one of those colours that was a toss up between darks and lights and it all went wrong?

nailpolish · 16/11/2006 11:16

no its fairly dark in colour

im going to wash them by hand from now i think

OP posts:
lorina · 16/11/2006 11:36

I put them in the wash in a padded lingerie bag from john lewis (cost about a fiver).

I dont tumble them though.

My absolute favourite bra is 4 years old and has been treated like that from the word go. Its still in good shape.

nailpolish · 16/11/2006 11:46

hmmm i might look into that lorina, thanks

JackieNo · 16/11/2006 11:54

Yes - I've got one of those laundry bags, and they seem to do the trick - I also always wash bras with only a few other things, in a delicates wash - although generally I try to only do full loads, I make an exception for these.

nikkie · 16/11/2006 20:49

Just normal wash then dry on the maiden.(don't have fancy stuff if that makes any difference?)
