How to clean a mattress?

My darling DS had an accident in my bed which I've sponge cleaned but it has left a tide mark around the cleaned area.

The mattress is new and cream coloured so it's very noticeable when changing linen.

Can you recommend anything I can use? An upholstery cleaning machine of some sort perhaps?

I'd suggest bicarbonate of soda but that's mainly for smells, I'm not sure about tidemarks! Have you got a steamer? That might help a little? Or can you turn the mattress so you don't see it? I can also highly recommend the new waterproof undersheets which you can get from Amazon or eBay etc. We have one on our bed for when DS spills things and it's brilliant - you'd never know it was on the bed, no crackling or plastic-ness at all. Won't save your existing tidemark but might help prevent them in future!

Thanks for the bicarb tip, I hadn't thought of that.

I don't have a steamer. Am happy to hire something if anyone could recommend?

Unfortunately, can't flip the mattress. It's some sort of non-turning design.

I have a mattress cleaning spray. You're meant to spray it on and it 'eats' the stain, then you vac up the residue? It's worked pretty well. I can't remember the make of mine but if you put 'mattress cleaner' into google you can spend a jolly several hours reading reviews of different mattress cleaners. The joys of parenting Grin
