Laundry Service - does anyone do/use this?

An idea has been slowly turning in my head since we stayed in a lovely holiday cottage at Easter. On the last day the clean linen for the following week was delivered and I started to think how nice it would be to have all our bedding (and towels, maybe) laundered and ironed every week.

I never iron bedding, and don't change the beds as often as I should/would like to. Unlike other laundry, though, it's not especially time sensitive (we have no routine and live in the middle of nowhere, so any attempt to outsource other laundry/ironing would inevitably result in things being in the wrong place at the wrong time).

We have or could acquire 2 sets of bedding per bed so if we were to strip beds and leave it out for collection on a set day each week, to be swapped with the clean set, that would work. This is clearly what happens (well, sort of - collection and delivery must be separate) for holiday homes.

Does anyone have a service like this outside of holiday home territory, and does it work as well as it does in my imagination? It's an utter luxury, I know, but I am in search of ways of reducing my stress levels right now and weekly clean and ironed sheets just sound really good to me.

What should I be searching for (DH has recycled the parish magazine, which would be my first port of call)?

Our local dry cleaners offers this service but I find it's cheaper to pay someone to do our ironing. Or a service wash at a laundrette?

Thanks, Eastpoint. The trouble is that the nearest laundrette (the nearest anything TBH) is 7 miles away, and it's not like I pass it on the way to work or anything (I don't reliably go in the same direction every day, for a start, and am not always going/coming back within reasonable working hours either).

Any system which relies upon one of us remembering to drop off and pick up stuff is doomed, even though I am sure it would be cheaper. The pickup/delivery aspect is key to my idea, I think.

I saw adverts for a similar service in the local magazine that gets posted through the door, then did some googling and found a few places that offered it - buuuut, it was stupidly expensive (I forget how much exactly) - much more than I could justify, even with two young kids and a pitifully small, ancient washer/dryer in our rented house..

It's a shame.. I've had it done when away for work and it's lovely getting a bag back of beautifully folded clothes.

Were you looking specifically at bed linen, Pickle, or at general laundry? I am hoping (dreaming) that just sheets pillowcases and duvet covers should be more cost effective (quicker to iron) than the equivalent volume of mixed clothes and linens. We did experiment with outsourcing general ironing, but it turned out to be stupid money because most of it was DH's PITA 100% cotton shirts

I imagine that in areas with lots of holiday homes this must be a fairly competitive business and therefore presumably more cost effective. There are a few holiday homes around us, but probably not enough to sustain a specialist business.

I think there are services like this everywhere. I know both my beautician and hairdresser have towels picked up, laundered and dropped back off. In a very non touristy area. I do think ironing aspect will be expensive though as ironing bedding is actually my most hated bit of ironing and takes ages.

I take my bed linen to our rural post office, it's £6.90 for a super king duvet cover. They use a laundry service that collects & delivers twice a week. They do collect from individual homes too.
