Incense

I've probably tried everything to scent my house but I've always refused incense sticks because...I don't know, they make me think of students in dorms half-heartedly trying to drown out the smell of pot. However, I got given a box of sandalwood ones was surprised to find that I actually quite like them? They smell a bit strong while they burn and give my house something of the flavour of an 1890s opium den, but the smell they leave behind is actually pleasant and at a level that's noticeable but non-offensive, and it lingers for days in a way that puts the expensive candles I've tried to shame.

So I want to buy more and maybe branch out into some that don't smell so generically incense-y (i.e.: someone coming into my house might think 'mmm...pleasant' and not 'hmmm...incense'). Also, I don't want to pay loads, but would like to find some with some assurance of reasonable quality ingredients - I don't fancy inhaling en mass whatever's in the '3 boxes for £2' incense that sometimes turns up at our local market.

Does anyone use incense and have any recommendations?

I love incense sticks. I have drawers and drawers and boxes of them. But I do have a firm belief in aroma therapy so I often use different incense for different things depending on how I'm feeling.

If you're wanting them just to make the place smell nice, then just go to a shop that sells them and have a sniff.

I'm with you on Sandalwood, it's one of my favourites. I also really love jasmine, frankinscense and nag champa. Lavender is really good to burn in the bedroom, it's very de-stressing and relaxing.

Admittedly I've not looked hard, but I don't know of anywhere near me that sells it so I can sniff the boxes.

Where do you buy it from/what brand, rabbit?

I'm hoping someone can sort me some links to buy particular brands online - as I'm sure, as with candles, there's lavender incense that is delightful and lavender incense that's ...not.
