Aside from the obvious of course!!!

And also what's best, the all in one detergents or separate rinse aid and salt?

Everything goes in the dishwasher. I don't use anything in cooking or serving food that isn't dishwasherable.

I buy all in one tablets but still put in rinse aid as the all-in-one still doesn't get the glasses streak-free.

Wash everything except cast iron in it. Use tablets or recently finish gel stuff. No salt or rinse aid (we're in a soft water area).

AmandaTanen · 16/05/2015 18:38

I pop bin lids, bathroom accessories and lots of other things.

I just buy whatever's on offer.

Fairylea · 16/05/2015 18:40

We use ours for everything. If something doesn't come out clean first time we just keep putting it back in till it does.

I use all in one tablets from tesco but I also add salt and rinse aid separately as I find it gets everything cleaner.

Thankyou Smile

I've just got my first dishwasher, it's currently running a load of dinner pots (I saved yesterday's in anticipation lol) but I'm prowling round the house looking for things to fill it with once it's done. Lego? My little ponies? Pet bowls? If they're not done with crockery and food prep items are these things ok?

Fridge shelves, fridge door shelves!

scarletforya · 16/05/2015 19:24

Yy Lego, plastic toys -not too hot a wash though. I'm not sure about the my little ponies though.

I wouldn't do pet bowls but loads of people do!

I did the dusty casings from my smoke alarms, not the bit with the electrics in obviously!

maroonedwithfour · 16/05/2015 19:26

The fliter bits that come off the cooker hood.

ScotsWhaHae · 16/05/2015 19:28

I put pretty much anything that fits into my dishwasher in my dishwasher.

Ruhrpott · 16/05/2015 19:29

Bin lids, cat bowls, soap dishes, washing up brush

MoreBeta · 16/05/2015 19:35

Pots and pans (except cast iron and baking tins).

Kids plastic toys.

Shower mats (not too hot a setting though)

Plastic toilet brushes - they come out just like new even if they are a bit discoloured when they go in.

I heard one bloke does engine parts in his.

MoreBeta · 16/05/2015 19:37

Agree with maroon great for metal cooker hood filters too.

MadamG · 16/05/2015 19:45

I also wash my washing up cloths on nine, and place mats. I put pet food dishes and pet stuff in there too. I only put plastics (Tupperware) in the top of the dishwasher as i don't think it's as hot?

IKEA antilop high chair (minus the legs). Clean as a whistle!

rabbit123 · 16/05/2015 19:55

I put everything in the dishwasher. Absolutely everything. Vases, dirty plastic kids toys, bin lids, oven racks...if it needs washing, it goes in the DW.

I use Finish Classic tablets, non 3 in 1. You can get 100 in B&M for a tenner. I then use any salt and rinse aid. I find this washes well and is the best value for money

FloellaDaVille · 16/05/2015 20:00

I'm a music teacher and twice a year I clean all the school recorders in my dishwasher (60 of them) so they can be used by different children. Also do pet bowls and used to do plastic toys when my children were smaller.

wowfudge · 16/05/2015 20:14

Microwave turntable.

scarletforya · 16/05/2015 20:57

Oh yea, pot scrubs and the washing up brush live in there and get washed every time I run the dishwasher.

gabyzaky · 16/05/2015 21:09

All removable bits from dyson. Made such a difference as full of dog hair!

Pidgy · 16/05/2015 21:19

morebeta toilet bushes?! Please tell me you're joking! Boak!

MoreBeta · 17/05/2015 09:08

Seriously. A toilet brush is no more 'dirty and dangerous' than a chopping board covered with blood and meat scraps from a leg of pork that has been left out for an hour in a warm kitchen.

gaby* - I am going to try my Dyson now. Its old and not working well as it has been on a building site but it might restore it. Manly brick and plaster dust.

18yearstooold · 17/05/2015 09:12

I've cooked a salmon in mine

Trainers go in

Pet bowls etc

Bathroom bin

Loads of stuff really

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 17/05/2015 09:16

Main thing to watch out for is tomato based sauces, if you put anything with these in unrinsed all other plastics in that load will get stained orange.
