How on EARTH do I clean cream suede dining chairs?

My kids have, over the past few years, wrecked my dining chairs. Replacing them isn't quite in the budget yet, and we've got loads of people coming over next month. I have chair shame!

I've tried stain remover and steam cleaning them, to no avail.

Please give me all and any ideas! (PS: they're probably not real suede, let's face it)

No idea (sometimes baby wipes help a bit) but following for tips as I have the same problem!

Is it just the seat pad? If so, maybe recover?

DaysAreWhereWeLive · 14/05/2015 20:23

Colin I wish!

I'll give baby wipes a shot, thanks.

You need a staple gun and some wipe clean fabric.

I am sadly lacking the skills though...

It really isn't that hard. And chances are it would be an improvement...

I bleach them.

Works perfectly. They are 10 years old and when I've cleaned them not very frickin' often they look brand new.

:)

A friend of my recovered the seats with oilcloth - looks great.

I used baby wipes. Works a treat. I have to really scrub for the heavy stains, but they come up lovely every time.

AyMamita · 16/05/2015 20:37

Magic eraser?

DaysAreWhereWeLive · 18/05/2015 08:21

Quite it would be a massive improvement, but the frame of the chair is metal, and I can't see where it comes apart.

Baby wipes didn't really do much.

Just bleach and hot water Detective?

My mum cleans ours whenever she comes to visit. She uses hot water and fairy liquid and sponge washes them. Then leaves them out to dry in the sun, or in a sunny spot in the house. They come up really well. Ours are generally covered in food stains and dirt, rather than stains like pens, paint etc.

WellTidy · 18/05/2015 11:14

And she scrubs at any stains with a nailbrush.

Ooh my mums is coming round tomorrow...Wink
