The Big Declutter 2015

To put it simply...I've had enough, I have too much stuff! The rooms in my household are chaotic; piles of clothing, products, books etc!

Are there any other ladies out here who would like to join me on a year of decluttering? Smile

Didn't get anything done here either, other than sell and post some things. However, DP is off for 3 days now so I'll get plenty of time. Tomorrow morning is tots group then dentist, afternoon is drop off of donations and giving stuff back that people lent me. Evening time I'm resetting up the "staging area" and ready to get stuck in on Saturday am.

How's everyone getting on? Cleared a big bag of stuff from the kitchen this morning - it tends to be a dumping ground so I am trying to be ruthless. I could do with getting DH more on board though as most of the crap seems to be his.

I'm new to MN and just seen this thread and I'd like to join please. I too am drowning in clutter and I'm determined to get ruthless...may take a while tho', I emptied one small cupboard yesterday and it filled the recycling bin completely...

I'm in
I don't think I'm a hoarder but the kids have WAY too many toys etc -
We have been given hand me downs
Kids range in age from 7 - 1 and I just don't know what to do with any of it
We don't have a loft to put things in
It's getting me down.

I'm doing ok dp and dd1 got the horrible bug last week so not a huge amount done. I did manage to sell two items on Facebook and also gave a rug away for free which got picked up Smile . I cleared half a kitchen cupboard and have almost finished gutting the dd's bedroom ready for moving everything around.
Still have a stack of dvds for music magpie that I think needs to be my priority for this week.

What does everyone do with childrens book's? I have lots of baby books I don't really want to get rid of but also don't really need them either, some are my favourites but I don't think dd's would miss them.

I've had a massive declutter but still lots to go - if I could streamline my kitchen cupboards I think that would be a major major plus! We have all this stuff we got as wedding gifts but never use and then no room for the stuff we do use.

Also any advice anyone? Dd (4) is VERY crafty and has loads and loads and loads of supplies - there's no room in her bedroom so it's in plastic drawers in the dining room but I hate how it looks!

Baby books as in story books? I've kept maybe 2/3 but rest go to charity.

2 days off this week, DCs are knackered after school camp etc and dont want to do big days out so taking advantage of them being happy at the park: today is my room and dining room. Thursday is loft and their room. Not enough storage for all hobbies and sorts stuff.

Do any of you have older DCs? I am struggling with all the books etc for secondary school and everytime I try to sort it for eldest he ignores and scatters all over various surfaces in various rooms...

I kept all craft bits in 2 smallish tuff crates with lids under DS bed 1 for messy glue glitter paint stuff and one for drawing, cutting less messy art.

Yesterday I sorted a huge box for my local preschool of old books, art, resin dinosaurs etc. all stuff not good enough to sell but has good life in it yet. They have been really grateful and also for the old pants, socks, trousers to deal with the inevitable accidents!
