Just that really. Help. My windows are covered in condensation- Heating is only on twice a day and only me in the flat all day. My neighbours don't seem to be having the same problem. What can I do about it? Do I need to worry about it?

Er...open them?

Consider what is causing the condensation and see if you can deal with that.

My MIL cooks with the heat turned up high and lids half off so loads of steam, i put lids on tight and turn it right down.

Having the bathroom warm before running bath or shower and opening window as soon as you are done. Reduce temp of shower, DH likes to have it up high as in height and very hot, if he brings it down he can turn down the temp.

same problem. don't want to open too much due to new DD. Have tried water absorbing crystals but they are no good. It's mainly our bedroom windows steaming up over night. thinking of getting a dehumidifier, but they are over £100 - anyone able to recommend or show me where to get a cheaper one - the ones I have seen have been for a whole house - really only need one room. thanks PS sorry to hijack

i have had the same problem. ive just moved to a new house and didnt have this big a problem in the old house.there is actually pools of water on the window ledge. i can help it by opening the windows but next to my front door is a glass pane that doesnt open and that gets really steamed up. i keep turning the heating down and hubby keeps turning it up.

you can smear a tiny bit of washing up liquid on them to stop them steaming up

pointydog · 09/11/2006 17:05

Put dish of salt on windowsills.

Buy a dehumidifier.

Some flats and houses are more prone than others.

pointydog · 09/11/2006 17:06

you can get v cheap dehumidifier (I should read threads first). I'm sure ours was about £30 from B&Q

We have this problem with the bedroom windows. Yesterday dh couldn't sleep and got up at 5 am and put the heating on (2 hours earlier than usual). No condensation that day. So am wondering if our house just gets too cold overnight and setting it to come on earlier/switch off earlier will solve the problem - not sure what effect this'll have on how cold the house gets by the end of the day though (cashflow means I try to leave it off all day if at all possible).

My old house was like that in certain rooms. Pools on the windowsills in the morning. I cured it by getting small oiled filled radiators and running them on very low overnight, just under the windows. It didnt cost much coz we had very cheap electricity overnight on a white meter.
