Can I remove grease (emollient) from a silky shirt?

I have a silky (but not actual silk, just polyester) shirt that I have managed to get dd's emollient on - it's hydromol so along the lines of Vaseline.

It was washed normally but the grease marks were still there, so I rubbed the marks with neat washing up liquid then soaked in warm water before rinsing and spinning in the machine.

Grease mark looks like it's gone from one place but not others.

Is it ruined or are there other tricks I can try?

On my DH's silk ties the only thing I ever found that worked on grease marks are the silk tie wipes from M&S. They usually sell them near the till point in the men's dept.

I use that stuff for ds. He's just been diagnosed with x linked icthyosis, along with youngest ds. We've got a lot of emollients, youngest ds sprayed my favourite sheer top with a spray emollient I can't remember what's it called. In desperation I tried this carpet spray I bought it from wilkinson online to remove a wine stain from our pre children white sofa it's called carpet power by Oz clean. It got the grease stain out, completely removed. Hopefully it will work for you.

Ooh great tips thanks so much! Do you think any carpet cleaner would do?

Maybe, 1001 is quite good. The Oz power carpet clean is just amazing I honestly haven't found something that it can't get out. It even managed the many years of grass stain and boy dirt from a shirt I was passing down to younger ds, I was going to recycle it but it came clean!

For anything greasy, pre-treat with washing up liquid or a stain remover before you put it in the wash. Also, only use cold water when treating stains as warm or hot water can set the stain.

Can it be dry cleaned? Most effective for greasy marks in my experience.

i've found with grease spots that rubbing talc or some kind of translucent facepowder into the spots before a wash tends to fix it!

Another vote for washing up liquid or if that fails Shout ( spray bottle ) works brilliantly on these stains (not especially good at any other sort of stain though??) Just spray stain, gentle rub and throw back in the wash!

I have had success with rubbing talc into both sides of stain, leaving for a while, rubbing in neat washing up liquid and washing on a normal 40 degree wash. This has removed all sorts of oil spits from shirts, t shirts and jeans.
