A question for veterinary nurses/caretakers/dog owners ... absorbent product for "accidents"

Hello. Adopted a dog last week. So far has been very well behaved but want to be prepared ... .

I remember a friend of mind, a decade or so ago, using a product that looked like sand/potting compost (no idea what it actually was) that she used to put on dog pee/dog vomit/child vomit which absorbed all the nasties and then allowed you to then sweep it up in a relatively painless manner. It absorbed liquid and odours.

Anyone know what this is called, if it still exists, and if so, where to buy it from? Thank you. Thought it might be handy to have in cupboard (esp as have old parquet floor).

Going to post this is good-housekeeping too.

There is some Simple Solution stuff that Pets at Home sell which does exactly as you say. It's expensive though unless it's a very occasional thing to deal with.

Use the cat litter that's made of wood. It goes like sawdust when wet.

Thank you Wowfudge I will have a look on the Pets at Home website.

Thanks Merlypussedoff do you mean Cat's Best? The litter that is in small bullet shapes? If so, I am surprised that it dissolves so easily (I use it for my rabbits) but will definitely test it! Thanks again.
