This is a thread about a thread... But here goes!

Where are you supposed to put the wet dishcloth if not over the tap? Confused

Scrubby backed sponge for dishes - kept in a caddy between uses

But still need a cloth for kitchen counters, I use microfibres cloths and change every other day or so. Draped over the taps in between uses. Frankly my kitchen is full of neon plastic crap so a cloth is the least of my worries stylistically!

I can't stand dish clothes though. And why do the seams ALWAYS twist on the buggers

Over the sink? Nasty.

We use them, for wiping down surfaces, then they are chucked in the washing machine.

The key is to have loads.

Ha, backforgood! I don't have any vile stinky cloths at all.
You can keep yours Wink wherever you like, I suppose, but I think they are the devil's work.

Ours goes over the tap. When I had a double sink, it went over the bit in the middle. My sink is so close to the wall it can't go to that side, and if draped at the front, even wrung out, eventually the wood cabinets will be damaged. When we remodel, there will be a towel bar for the dish cloth and a towel. I am considering some sort of bar above the sink, at the window now. I want one of those three swinging armed things like my aunt had 40 years ago, that was probably bought 30 years before that. They used to be common when kitchens were workrooms and designed for practical use rather than more showy like today.

i change it daily, wash a load of cleaning cloths, dish towels and dish cloths once a week.

My mother puts everything under the sink. Even the dish rack. Which she washes and hand dries. Thank god she didnt require that when we were doing the chores. We washed all dishes, stopping to empty the rack as needed, leaving the rinsed and wrung out dish cloth spread over the pots and pans washed last and left drying in the rack.

Over the tap so as to dry. Clean one every day as is spontex thing and tea towel. The dirty ones live in a string bag in the laundry. When it's full the whole lot goes an hot wash with powder bleach and washing soda. Air-dried outside.

New blue cloth for every wash, we have a dish washer now but I always used to do this and if I do wash by hand it will be with a fresh cloth.

Ive just moved into a house where the tap does not lend itself to having a cloth draped over it and its driving me mad. Didn't think much of it before but now I know that when we re-do the kitchen, one of the requirements is that the tap is able to have a cloth draped over it nicely!
