What powder/softener do you use?
Do you use powder, capsules, tablets, liquid??

Bold Cammomile/Lavender is the nicest smelling I've come across in a while but I have to use non-bio as dd is sensitive (I actually have thought about cleaning all her stuff seperatly so I can use it)

I recently changed to Ariel nonbio which smells nicer and I use Morrisons own sensitive softener.

I stopped using liquid, as my dd2 took the ball back out the washer as I scouted round for left over laundry and drank it!!

I also spoke to someone on here the other day who's washing caught fire because an undesolved capsule blocked the water inlet pipe (so I have changed to tablets just incase!! ...Well you never know!!!!!)

YES I'M SAD I KNOW BUT I LIKE WASHING!!!!

I use liquid - as my poor old machine was clogging up with the powder (no matter which one I used). I use about half the "recommended" amount though - so it goes further.

bold camomile/lavender washing powder

with a bit of bleach added in the whites load for dh's uniform

NomDePlume · 02/11/2006 12:03

Persil Non-Bio

Comfort Pure Concentrate

ludaloudbang · 02/11/2006 12:10

hmm...I was using persil nonbio too NDP but fancied a change.

I like the smell of Daz too but refuse to use it as it shares the same name as an old boyfriend!!!(psycologically I'm a bit messed up I know!!)

I used to use Ariel when DD was baby. I bought persil once by mistake and preferred it.

QuootiePieBANGERSandMash · 02/11/2006 12:13

Fairy non bio powder & fairy fabric softner

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 02/11/2006 12:15

no fabric conditioner

sainsbos non-bio tablets - only use 1 per wash instead of 2.

ludaloudbang · 02/11/2006 12:16

hmm...my softener masks the smells of most things I choose...but I'm not keen on a lot of softeners and have to use a sensitive one...morrisons seems to not smell of anything much so you can smell the powder better.

now the kids skin dioesnt seem to react to soap powder, i use whatever is on offer. this week it is ariel non bio liquid. i also check the reduced section for battered boxes of laundry stuff.

i used that lavender and soemthign softener on mine and dh's bed sheets only.

only ever use hlaf/third the amount as well.

ludaloudbang · 02/11/2006 12:17

I tried Lidls non-bio once too as they are super cheap...can't remember why I didn't keep using them...

ludaloudbang · 02/11/2006 12:19

hmm..I use half the amount usually as we live in a soft water area... sometimes if you over do it the clothes come out all soapy

persil/fairy non bio powder..used to use tablets until I worked out how expensive they were.
comfort pure conditioner.

expatinscotland · 02/11/2006 12:30

I've converted to Persil non-bio powder.

I put it straight into the drum, but half the amount w/a scoop of soda crystals.

For softener, I use a splash of vinegar w/some essential oil.

I do keep a bottle of Ecover fabric softener to hand, but only to use on certain things like bedding.

AnAngelWithin · 02/11/2006 12:35

i use asdas own non bio for the little ones and for the nappies and adsas own all in one tablets of lavender and cottonflower (i think.its a purple box anyway) and lenor lavender and camomilefabric conditioner.

MrsBadger · 02/11/2006 12:41

Persil non-bio because DH doesn't like the smell of anything else
Tablets because they're easier - I put laundry on last thing at night and can see myself stumbling around coating the kitchen in powder / liquid etc.
Only use one per wash though.
No softener (see DH above).

There is one softener whose smell I love though - remember sleeping over at a friends' house at about 11yo and the bed smelt exquisite, like heaven on earth - it was bliss and I couldn't stop sniffing it.
Can never face looking like a madwoman smelling all the bottles in the supermarket though, and wouldn't be able to use it on our bedding anyway. Oh well...

PandaG · 02/11/2006 12:45

ecoballs! or ecover if is a very dirty wash. works ohk too

chester30 · 02/11/2006 12:52

fairy powder ans softener. bought an enormous catering sized box of powder - very economical

ditzymum · 02/11/2006 13:12

Washing powder - whatever's cheapest at the time (currently a huge box of Daz from cash & Carry!

Lenor Summer Breeze or Spring Awakening are both absolutely gorgeous, esp on bedlinen. Smell lasts for ages and is lovely when washing is drying on radiators makes whole house smell nice.

I love washing too - are we wierd ?
