soap/shampoo dispensers? yay or nay?

Right, we are refurbishing the house and have added a small shower room upstairs in our new loft conversion. Will be mainly used by the kids once we have our house back.

the room is very teeny, small shower, compact sink and a loo.

I'm considering having one of those triple dispensers for the shampoo, shower gel and conditioner in the shower cubicle? to save all the clutter of bottles.

and then thought about also having one by the sink for handwash instead of trying to squeeze a free standing soap thing on the sink.

I'm picturing a nice, clutter free space thats easy peesy to clean? but want to check it wont just look naff? i have seen the shower ones before but not seen anybody have a soap one at home before. The suite/tiling/paint is all looking amazing so i don't want to spoil it!?

THIS is what I am looking at.

Honestly - they remind me public toilet soap dispensers. And work. Some hotels have them. A lot of them are plastic and not actually very robust.

We have those suction baskets at home that the bottles go into because we don't like the line of bottles round the edge of the shower tray and who wants to keep having to bend down for everything? No holes drilling into the tiles and you can get stainless steel baskets these days.

I think they look repellent.

BTW do not buy glass or china dispensers for the bathroom. When you drop them they will crack the basin or WC and will chip or scratch the bath.

MissMartin1992 · 03/04/2015 21:34

i like them Grin they are definately something i would have but prob just in the shower they look very modern ofc they won't suit everyones tastes.. and to be honest i quite like a cosy/ traditional feel to my house but my bathroom and kitchen are super modern! go for it.. they're a great price aswell.. im sure the kids will find them fun haha

JenniferJen · 04/04/2015 00:32

piglet - what do you mean when you say they look repellent? i don't even know if that's good or bad! Blush

im pretty sure we will go for it in the shower. I'm worried by the sink will be like a public loo. BUT it would be better for function and ease of cleaning etc. Confused

MissMartin - I don't dislike them because they look modern: I dislike them because they are naff! The ones the OP linked to aren't stylish and have obviously plastic tops that fit into the metal parts. Just gruesome. Sorry OP but if you are wedded to the idea please find something more stylish and really good quality.

Cerealchanger · 06/04/2015 08:44

I think they're a great idea, no more bottles cluttering up the bathroom and a lot easier to clean, go for it!

WittgensteinsBunny · 06/04/2015 08:48

I personally wouldn't have them but think that the simple human version is much, much nicer if you are definitely going to put one in your shower room

Molichite · 06/04/2015 19:03

Will they not go manky quite quickly though? I tend to find metal accessories in bathrooms tend to go green and/or rusty. Possibly if you buy more expensive stuff than us and/or do more maintenance this doesn't happen, but in my mind it is an extra thing to clean, not the opposite.

Style-wise, I'm sorry but it reminds me of cheap hotels. I do not have a very modern taste.

JenniferJen · 06/04/2015 21:37

wowfudge - i basically need ones that the kids can do, as it will be their shower room mainly (so practicality is coming over vanity) and these were the only ones i could find with the bit you pull in towards your hand, rather than press a button iyswim?

i haven't ordered anything yet though but open to suggestions - as long as a 5 year old with not much upper body strength can do it. Smile

Horrible.

icelollycraving · 07/04/2015 08:16

I like the idea,o don't like those particular ones though I'm afraid. Taste is so personal,if you & your family like them & they'll be practical who cares!
I know bath store had a shower tidy thing with shaped dispenser bottles that were really nice.

JenniferJen · 07/04/2015 19:28

Thanks for the replies. i must admit i don't actually like the look of these particular ones either, but the others look harder to use, especially for the kids. unless i want to spend a fortuneShock

caroldecker · 07/04/2015 19:47

nicer

icelollycraving · 07/04/2015 20:33

Those are really nice. Wondering where I can put them!!

JenniferJen · 10/04/2015 10:12

the simple human ones are great but also £70! no way I can justify that one a shampoo dispenser.
