What would you have in your dream house to make life easier?

I would have a utility room with a wooden ceiling drier and a fold down ironing board (I hate having to store the ironing board in an upstairs wardrobe) so i could whizz through a top in the morning and wall unit to store the iron while hot.

I would also love a cordless dyson but they are ££££

My makes do items are two cheapy hoovers one up and one downstairs

A live-in nanny, housekeeper and chef

A live-in housekeeper, like the Brown's had in Paddington.

I neeeed one!

I would have a large storage room with shelving on both sides off the garage.

My built in wardrobes would be deep enough for two rows of hanging (so you can rotate summer/winter clothes).

Love your laundry ideas too op.

I'd have those plug-in hoovers - you don't have an actual hoover, just a hose that you plug in to the different outlets - a few on each floor I suppose. So you don't have to drag the feckin hoover all over the house. Also laundry chutes - one from every bedroom to the utility room. Failing that, yes, a housekeeper.

Just one other person who knows how to tidy up their own mess Angry

A porch. I dream of having somewhere to store clutter, instead of having the hallway filled with a pushchair, coats and shoes.
A fourth bedroom/loft conversion.
A utility room/somewhere to stick a wet dog.
Downstairs loo.

Failing the full time housekeeper, I'd have the washing machine and tumble dryer on the landing by the bedrooms and bathrooms. I mean, where does dirty laundry come from? Either off beds, off bedroom floors (I have teenagers...) or out of the bathroom. What on earth is the point of carting all the linen and towels and clothing down the stairs, into the kitchen, washing it, drying it and then carting it all back up again?

I would however install a dumb waiter lift so I could send the clean wet washing downstairs to a cunning little hatch outside the house right by a washing line, ready to hang out in summer.

no stairs/steps
second bathroom

A boot room as well as a utility (so I can stop tripping over the shoes & boots that seem to breed by the back doors) with somewhere for my ironing board to go away as behind the living room door is just a crap place for it to live.

A Braava floor robot. [keens]

I bet they're not as good as they sound though. I have a friend who has a Roomba but she never uses it.

Mrsderekshepard · 31/03/2015 22:17

A utility room a downstairs toilet and a big cupboard to hide everything that doesn't have a home

MangosMangosMangos · 31/03/2015 22:40

Launderette.

Drying and ironing room.
A courtyard full of washing lines.
Hidden en-suite accessible only via finger print recognition lock.
