I think its broke

TBH, these days, its cheaper to buy a new one if the existing one is no longer under guarantee. Unless your DH is quite handy.

southeastastra · 31/10/2006 10:25

have you got loads of things in there? mine doesn't spin if it's too empty

ludalooOOOOO · 31/10/2006 10:26

Well mine had this problem...I think it was something to do with the tension of the belt...it could only spin half loads...or I'd have to wring a load out before it would spin...which kind of defeats the point I know!

saintAugustine · 31/10/2006 10:27

kick the door. mine works when i do that that was the science bit

ButtonMoon · 31/10/2006 10:28

This happened to mine recently. My DS had turned all the butttons on like do not drain, do not spin etc and the washing was too heavy for the drum to rotate.

foxinsocks · 31/10/2006 10:29

I dunno

is there something trapped between the drum and the casing of the washing machine - ours started doing this and I found a pair of ds's shorts stuck (had wondered where they were!). I had to feel round the rim and found something and then pulled.

Either that or it is National Death to Washing Machine Day because mine has started filling up with water at the end of the cycle gggrrr which means all the clothes are clean but absolutely wringing wet gggrrrr

Has your machine got a balancer? If my wash is too heavy or too light it wont spin so I have to rearrange it to make it spin.

Mine spins badly when the filtery bit needs emptying...

twelveyeargap · 31/10/2006 10:46

It could be the drive belt, though it would not turn during hte rest of the cycle if that's the case (I think.) This might help

please be careful my washing machine man was electrocuted fixing a machine and he had years of experience.

mascaraohara · 31/10/2006 10:52

It cost me £150 to find out the following...

The weight of a load can off balance the drum or something... take the load out, give the drum a spin with your hand.. shake the load about a bit, put some of it back in and attempt to spin (worth turning machine off completely and back on again first)

PS. not read thread, apologies if I am repeating somebody

Flamebat · 31/10/2006 10:52

We have a little square on the front of our machine, down the bottom, and when you open it, there is a little untwistable thing (well, about the diameter of a mug)... it unscrews and a long thing comes out that needs declogging. Not a fun job.

Tis a washer/dryer though so it might not be on normal ones iyswim.

Check that your lo has not been playing with the buttons.
DD frequently sets the spin cycle to 0 rpm on our machine and it appears as if has broken!
She is a total pain though!
